Homes.org, SatelliteSales.com, Elephant Group, Inc. - or whatever this company calls itself is a sleazy company that won't stop sending me their junk mail.

After buying my first home I started receiving all kinds of junk mail. Most companies promptly remove me from their mailing list when I kindly request them to. This company, however has persisted in harassing me despite my reasonable request.

I get junk mail from "Homes.org" just about every week now, always the same thing: a fake check for $25, made out to "Future DISH Network Viewer" with a letter about some Dish Network offer. There is no return address and the only contact information are a toll-free number 1-888-838-4894 and website www.satellitesales.com.

After about the 4th copy of the same letter I called their toll-free number and asked to be removed from their mailing list. The rep put me on hold without a word and transferred me to someone else.

First thing the new rep asked for my phone number and the address where I'd like satellite service. I then politely requested to be removed from their mailing list. This is where they really got out of control. Two reps were on the line and decided they wanted to waste my time and play games with me instead of just taking my address off their list. They started asking questions faster than anyone could answer them - "What is the numerical portion of your address? Is that on the first, second, or third floor" I tried clearly and slowly giving them the first part of my address "333-", they cut me off "Is that 3, 4 or 5 three's? You said 3 trees? Would you like the satellite service at the 1st, 2nd or 3rd tree?".

They were talking too fast to be intelligible, asking all kinds of stupid questions, trying to mess with me, with 2 of them talking at the same time. They denied there was more than 1 person on the line. These 2 guys had obviously done this before and this seemed to be the norm for them whenever anyone called to be removed from the mailing list.

After this went on for several minutes I asked, "So is it possible for you to remove my information from your mailing list or now", at which point the line went silent. I held on the line for another couple minutes until someone with a fake Arabic accent came on and asked if he could sign me up for satellite service (probably one of the same guys that was just messing around with me previously, disguising his voice). This "different" rep then took my information and said I would be removed from the mailing list.

It would be weird enough if this is where it ended, however, the next day I got a call on my cell phone from 954-657-9922 - the guy on the other line said "Hi, someone called from this number about getting satellite TV service installed at a new home". I told him "No, I called to be removed from your mailing list. Please removed me from your list and don't call me again." The person on the other line said "No problem, you've been removed from the mailing list, and then started his sales pitch and asking me if I have cable TV or satellite now. I told him I'm not interested and please do not call me again. He wasted another few minutes of my time before he finally hung up.

The next day, another rep called my cell phone again, and pretty much the same exact conversation took place. I told them again "I'm not interested. Please also remove my phone number from your call list!" - apparently they had gotten my phone number off of caller ID the first time I called to be removed from their mailing list.

If this wasn't enough, I'm still getting their junk mail - the same letter, about once a week.

It's hard to believe Dish Network actually allows this sleaze company to be an affiliate, but I guess money is more important than consumer privacy to them.

How about you calm down, take a deep breath,....

AUTHOR: Thomas - Anderson (U.S.A.)

and understand that

1. Those mailings cost them money, and you will not catch cooties from the letters. So why get all excited about the letters and call your weasel-TV buddies?

2. If you do talk to them for *any* reason they may CLAIM you had ordered service, and then you will have even more problems. Bills, an installer banging on your door, credit report dings, and so on. So do not *talk* to them. Ever. Send a certified letter, return receipt, if its *absolutely necessary* for you to communicate with them.

3. Install an answering machine, and turn your telephone ringer OFF. Anyone legit like family members or someone in your doctor's office will leave you a message! Your weasel-TV buddies will NOT leave any messages for you.

Stop trying to buldoze this problem or banging your head on the wall. Let your weasel-TV buddies burn themselves out - and they will IF you stop encouraging them by calling them!.
