Solicitor representing himself as working for ADT knocks on our door and offers us a free alarm system in exchange for signing a 3 year monitoring contract and displaying the ADT Security sign on our front lawn.  They did not take the time to assess our home's security vulnerabilities, and essentially offered to replace the 12 year old equipment that was installed when the home was built.  They didn't even write the order up correctly, because the existing system had 2 control panels, one on each floor, and the installer was only going to install one control panel unless we paid him $120 to replace the 2nd control panel, which we did. 

We were suppose to have the system installed between 8am-10am, and the installer did not show up until the afternoon, and took 4 hours to install the system.  The installer demanded we fill out a customer survey and he watch over me while I answered the questions.  I wanted this guy out of my house, so I answered the questions affirmatively, even though I was not happy with the installation or the installer.  Two weeks after the installation, we were awaken at 2 am by a false alarm.  We called ADT customer support, and they told us we were not an ADT customer.  ADT customer support could not determine why the false alarm occurred.  They told us we had to contact Advance Alert, and ADT would not intervene to resolve our problem.

We opened up a trouble ticket with ADT.  We contacted Advance Alert several times.  They never answer the phone, and they never return voice messages.  After a week of no response from Advance Alert, we contact ADT Customer Support who told us the ticket had been closed and Advance Alert had sent a technician to our home who resolved the problem.  No one ever showed up.  To further test the service, we purposely set off our alarm system, and we never heard from ADT monitoring service personnel.  We contacted ADT Customer Service, and again, they told us we are not an ADT customer.  Don't trust anyone from ADT or their supposedly authorized dealers.
