After three years of paying for an alarm system never used (too complicated, more trouble than security, and change of telephone to cellular and internet) we called on May 7th 2009 to verify that we intended to cancel our contract ending May 29th, 2009. We had previously notified them of our intention not to renew in February of 2009 but the telephone rep said she could not do so but would have a "retention representative" do so. No contact was made by the company. Upon the May 7th conversation, a "retention representative" advised us that we were in violation of the contract which required a 30 day notice!!! No amount of discussion persuaded him that our previous efforts to cancel were valid.
I do not intend to pay for an additional year and have filed a complaint with the North Carolina Attorney General. I also intend to do everything possible to make this company and it's practices known to potential purchasers of a worthless product and its predatory efforts to hide behind poor customer service practices.
