Had a horrendous experience with UPS Freight. The regular residential service seems very good. They are helpful and try accommodate in every way. Spoke to their freight service and was seriously taken back.

They were not rude, just kept me going in circles and not listening to any of my complaints. Ended talking to a supervisor without any resolution.

Now I know that UPS Freight assumes that You WILL be at the delivery location from 6AM to 6PM, and has no intention of trying to contact anyone when they actually want to make the delivery. Additionally, get ready to be charged $69 for them to re-deliver if you manage to miss the first delivery.

Do you say you did not authorize the charge? Well...it was in the small print when you sign for the shipment - You are welcome.

Now FedEx looks much better, and DHL too. Unfortunately, DHL is out of business for domestic. So FedEx is the only game.

Too bad - my opinion of UPS was pretty high before this episode.

It's humorous everytime someone has an ignorant tantrum.

AUTHOR: Tom - San Diego (USA)

What is this guy complaining about. This delivery service is standard industry protocol. Also, most freight lines used by UPS and Fedex are seperate companies independently contracted by UPS and Fedex. Many of those individual freight lines have a contract with BOTH UPS and FEDEX.

Even if the freight service used was UPS LTL,  the delivery time and fees are no different than Fedex. If this whiner wanted delivery by a certain time and phone calls made, the shipper should have selected that service and options. Apparently the shipper wanted to trim cost and freighted it the most economical method possible. Fedex charges fees and/or higher rates for phone calls and guaranteed arrival dates and times too! Without paying for the service and options, Fedex will have you wait for delivery sometime during the entire business day and subject you to certain fees.

And thank you, dlanski, for making it clear that part of the problem as you clearly stated that you do not read what you are signing. Are you insinuating that Fedex doesn't have small print too?? Thanks for the laughs!
