I hope the FBI is reading this because they're going to arrest you.

I went to my local bank to verify that the bill was real, and they informed myself and my wife that it was, which we knew, but wanted to make sure of just in case. After about 5 minutes the bank issued us another bill in it's place due to the trouble that we had when we were trying to use it.
Not that I expect much from Wal-Mart employees, but I do expect them not to accuse my wife of using fake money.

The Secret Service deals with counterfeiters, not the FBI.

The bank should have return the old 1950 $100 back to FRB (Federal Reserve Bank). It is not Wal-Mart problem. Almost all form of life do not accept old bill anywhere except FRB. Sorry. Next time you get very old bill, do accept them. Ask for new bill type.

Actually, it is a Wal-Mart error. The money was real. The bank issued legal tender (you know, what banks tend to do and all) The issue was handled improperly by store personnel. You do not accuse customers of using counterfeit money due to personal ignorance in front of other customers.
The bottom line is, the store was wrong. Their associate acted like an ass. That's all there is to it.
Thankfully, the issue has been resolved, but yeah, the bank was wrong and all for issuing real money...

I work for another retailer, doing security, and we are no longer allowed to check large bills in front of the customer because of the potential for lawsuits, and it stems from an instance exactly like this one, down to the fact that it happened at WalMart. A woman tried using a $100 bill and was told it was fake in front of other customers. She ended up suing them because it turned out it was real. Target has been sued for the same issue in the past. It happens because some cashiers aren't trained properly and never told how to recognize a bill. In my store, we now take the bill, whether we think they are real or not, and if it is suspicious, we make a note of it and let the cash office know later, and send all information to the police and let them handle it. I had a cashier once ask me to check a bill in front of a customer, and we were lucky that the customer wasn't too worried about it. The cashier got a written warning for it. This does happen, so don't assume he's lying.

Attempting to pass conterfeit money is a crime. Terrance said the money you were trying to spend in his Walmart was counterfeit. Why didn't he call the cops? Stupid and neglegent.
Anon, since you knew the money was real you should have called the cops yourself. It might have been an inconvenience for a little while but in the end Terrance would be shown up for the jerk he seems to be. I would rather see Terrance slink out the door in shame than you.

First of all, the CSM shouldn't have confronted you in line. They normally ask you to join them in the managers office, or off to the side. Secondly, if it was that big an issue, why not just pay by check or credit card, and be done with it. Take it back to the bank for an exchange. I'm a cashier, and I check for the same things, and have had to call a CSM before for verification. Luckily, I had one that knew her job. Lastly, you don't expect much out of walmart employees? Isn't your wife one? Please don't lump all of us into the catagory of incompetant boobs. I am sorry to hear you were treated that way, but we're not all like that.

I'm a cashier at another wal-mart, and it seems this is another case of cashier ignorance. They should've known the old bills don't have the same features and watermarks as the newer ones. If they truly felt the bill wasn't real, then they should've quietly called over a CSM or manager using their keyboard. One thing wal-mart explains to us in training is that we NEVER accuse a customer of anything. Especially with counterfeit bills, they can change hands numerous times before actually being spotted. This is a poor performance on their part, but not all of us cashiers are that dim-witted, trust me. Oh, and we're paid better than minimum wage. If anything like this happens again, ask for a manager.

Obviously you are too stupid to make a counterfeit bill. I wonder if this is the same store your wife worked at and if she left on good terms.

Jason proves his lack of reading skills.
The bill was real, as per the bank, who replaced it as the OP wrote above in one of his posts.
Why boards allow you to carry on with your useless and unhelpful drivel is still a mystery.
CB was bad enough. I expected Rip-off Report to have a better reputation, but I'm beginning to wonder.

Looks like you can't read. I never said that the bill was fake. I said that Wal-mart was too stupid to suspect him of making a counterfeit bill. He does not have the brains to do something that complicated.

I am pretty sure that the laws in Canada in US are somewhat simular. In this case they handled it wrong. They are not supposed to accuse you up front. They are to call a CSM to verify the bill.
However your story reminds me of something that happened at my store. They stalled a lady who had a fake credit card. The police just happened to be around the area. They arrested her. They pulled her to the floor, it was sort of like the TV show cops. Everyone was watching the arrest.
As for Jason he is a troll on Complaints Board, pissed consumer ect. He and his friend Brett (the same person claiming he preformed a BJ to have a toaster returned without a receipt. Gracy knows the story from ComplaintsBoard. The rest of you don't ask. :D I think she made a comment on that "letter" Something about "shoving a knife in a toaster is not the most smartest thing to do"

Don't worry he will post that BJ story here. I know why you don't want to get into details about that letter, it gives you bad memories of when your father sodomized you doesn't it and made you give him a BJ right? Dont worry Brett will post that letter here. Someone had him banned from complaintsboard. I bet it was that lady Gracey lady. Well since you both live in Canada and are both pathetic you should get together and not make babies.

I know what you mean. I used to work at the Walmart in Lake
Elsinore and then the one here in Vegas. I understand that it is fustrating. I was a cashier. I had people get upset with me because I would check every $100 bill and $20 bill that came through my line. The cashier must of been uneducated and so was their CSS (CSM in some cases). I Will admit that I had made that same mistake but quickly apologized to the customer as I realized the year on the bill.
