Rhodes Furniture ripoff Bankruptcy Olathe Kansas

We purchased a sofa and two leather chairs in Oct 04. We wrote a check as a downpayment for the two chairs of $174.00 as the sofa was a clearance item and on a different ticket. We called the next day and cancelled the chairs, however, they had already deposited our check. We asked for a refund check. They sent the refund check within 10 days and we deposited it in our account. Now, 2 weeks later (11/05/04), we are being charged back for the check to our account because their check was no good. I called the local store to find out what happened and the office told me they had filed for bankruptcy last night. She assured me we would get another check soon, but could not tell me when. My advice to others is to stay as far away from Rhodes as possible unless you are paying cash and taking the furniture with you! I am extremely dissapointed in this company and can thoroughly understand why they are bankrupt.
