I ordered a rash guard from Captain Waldo's Emporium and paid with my debit card.  The money was withdrawn that day and a confirmation email was sent indicating that my order was being shipped both from Paypal and Captain Waldo's.  The email included an order number and said I could track in on their website which I absolutely couldn't although it was supposedly sent UPS Ground.

I called their 'customer service' line and got an answering machine... over and over.  I sent emails to their 'customer service' email and never received a response.  I even looked into their address- it is a suite somewhere in Texas and called neighboring businesses to see if they closed down, only to receive message machines.  The sporting events advertised on their site are outdated.

I even gave them a full 8 weeks before leaving my angered messages stating that if I didn't hear back, I would be reporting them.  Apparently with Paypal, this is beyond their 30 day limit for filing a claim.  I will try and call my bank to see what they suggest.

This is THEFT!  DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE! It seemed totally legit but IS NOT.  Any suggestions for persuing this are appreciated.

Issue Resolved... finally

I was able to track down the owner of Captain Waldos by contacting the person who runs their website at his separate business.  This person was very helpful and insisted that Captain Waldo was indeed real and a nice guy to do business with.  He reached out to Captain Waldo with my contact information.  A few weeks later, I received my purchase in the mail with a letter of apology.  My order apparently 'fell through the cracks' due to a personal matter.  Along with this cordial apology, Captain Waldo himself offered a 15% discount on my next purchase and his direct phone line and email.  So, it took 4 months and some detective work on my part... but I finally have my rash guard- just in time for winter!

Shouldn't we get both Sides of the story before posting?

Everything the complainant said is true, but it was never mentioned in their update that a full apology and explanation was sent to them along with an updated product.  There were several purchases that feel into this time frame that simply feel through the cracks due to personal health issues.  Capt Waldo's was effectively in hibernation for the most part of a year as I underwent treatments for a possibly fatal virus.  Once I could get back to the grind stone, I tried to make amends to whom ever had received poor service, not received purchases or any other negatives with Capt Waldo's during this time frame.

In this particular case, and I'm going on memory here, that a particular style of rash guard had been ordered and paid for. However, at the time the order was placed, the particular style of rash guard was no longer available from the factory.  The newest style of like product, not available until several months later, was ordered and sent to the customer as quickly as possible under the circumstances.

Capt Waldo's has thousands of satisfied customers around the globe and has never intentionally "ripped off" or "scammed" any one!  Once again I apologize for any inconvenience or stress we may have caused this customer or any other, during our unfortunate and untimely paralysis!

I find the fact that this customer had the courtesy and responsibility to follow up their original complaint with additional facts quite refreshing!  Everything they said in their original complaint is true....unfortunately do to some personal health issues and products being discontinued and replaced by new styles, there were multiple problems with deliveries on and off in 2009....

I can not blame anyone but my self, for some of these problems might have been avoided had I been at the top of my game.  Currently we are in the process of revitalizing www.CaptainWaldos.com bringing in new inventory and updating the website and trying to make sure events like those in 2009, don't happen in the future!
