United States Schools Of Golf - USSOG Golf school fails to provide services then files for bankruptcy. Richmond Indiana

On December 9, 2007, my wife purchased me a gift certificate in the amount of $999.00 from the USSOG (United States Schools of Golf). The invoice number was 15315 and there was an associated service charge of $59.94. USSOG sent me a very nice folder containing the certificate and information on a golf course in Lockport, IL, and the lessons available at that location.

Several times during the summer of 2008, I attempted to make reservations through USSOG for the golf lessons at Lockport and was eventually informed that the golf course was no longer part of the USSOG family. Given the names of other golf course locations, I again attempted to make reservations in the Chicago area, then the Arkansas area, and finally in Texas. Each time I was informed that these golf courses either no longer did business with USSOG or had stopped giving lessons for the year. I got the feeling that I was being given the “run-around” by USSOG.

Finally, after several phone calls and e-mails to USSOG about my concerns, I received a message on November 30, 2008 that extended the expiration date of my gift certificates to December 31, 2009. The message also stated that USSOG planned on having a new school in the St. Louis area in 2009.

Then BANG – less than a month later, I get an email from USSOG on October 27, 2008 stating that they had regretfully filed for bankruptcy and they wanted to thank me for my support. I imagine by support, they mean the $1,058.94 we sent them and NEVER received any benefit from.

The USSOG had to know they were going to file for bankruptcy on November 30th when they extended the expiration date of my gift certificate. That's pure deceit.
