We purchased a solar hot water heating system April 2009 with the promise of many rebates including state and county programs. The only rebate we have received was the one from our power company, Progress Energy. Upon further research into the rebate program web sites there are now no funds available for the programs. 

I do not blame the solar company nor it's salesperson but our local and state government for carelessly setting up it's citizens for failure. If there was a chance the funds for the rebates would run out we may have avoided spending almost $7000 on a system that barely saves us any money on our utility bills. Not to mention the expense of sending all rebate documents via certified mail.

I am waiting to hear back from these programs as to when, if ever, we will see our money. Funny how when I call an office I get a real person who will then connect me to what they say is the proper phone line which is ultimately a voicemail box. 

We didn't buy the system for the rebates, they only made it more attractive. We got into renewable energy because we thought it would be a responsible move. Our pool has been solar heated since 2004 and we believe in the product. We had been losing faith in our federal, state and local government, now it is gone.
