Kevin Trudeau ITV Corporation Failure to cancel order Elk Grove Village Illinois

On Saturday Sept. 29, my wife watched an infomercial for Kevin Trudeau's latest book on permanent weight loss. She ordered the book based on the selling points. The person taking the order put a hard sell on her to accept two additional free books for which she would pay just shipping and handling. She agreed. The cost of the first book was $15.95, with shipping and handling, the entire bill came to $44.80. My wife was told the books would ship in 4 to 6 weeks.

Early Sunday morning, Sept. 30, she had "buyers remorse". We made several attempts to call customer service. The phone was either busy or no-one answered.

Monday morning, Oct. 1, I called and talked with someone at the order desk. They told me that cancellation was impossible as the order had been sent to shipping. The scheduled ship date had magically changed to within the next 2 weeks. I told them that as it had not shipped ti cancel the order. Their rep became very indignant and said that was impossible and hung up on me. My wife also called and received a similar response. She also sent an email with the response being "it is against ITV's written policy to cancel orders". When asked how is the consumer to know the written policy, she was told it is in the shipping documents.

Tuesday, Oct 3, I talked with ITV again. I told them to cancel the order and if they did not, I would refuse shipment and refute the credit charge. They said too late to cancel as it would be shipped within the week. Rather amazing that what was 4 to 6 weeks in shipping became with the week when you try to cancel an order. We were told the would refund the sales price of the purchased book and would accept it back but they would not refund any shipping charges. They also said to not return the "free books" as they had excess inventory and could not use them.

Since all of this began, we have found that the weight loss requires not only the cheap readily available ingedient but an injection not available in the states by any reputable doctor. We also found that because of past claims of scams and fraudulent practices, Kevin Trudeau can no longer sell real products but is allowed to sell books because books are covered unhder "freedom of speech".
