Political Call Center Slave Labor in Mesa Arizona

In my most recent entry the word "sandals" should be "scandals" as below":

"I was treated like garbage at the PCC and this is what happens when a bad economy and scandals push someone with my background to accept a menial, low paying and abusive job."

I started working for PCC recently, and I am very appreciative of the opportunity. I also wanted to make it clear that I thoroughly enjoy my job.

The thing that needs to be understood about this and every call center is that you are expected to perform at a certain level. If you don't have the ability to perform at this level, because you're nervous or shy, or as seems to be the case of the filer of this report, you have a language barrier keeping you from effectively communicating with the people you're calling, then you'll either be let go or you'll just plain flounder with ineffectiveness.

The whole point is, if you can't hack it, then get a job that you can do successfully. Not everyone is call center material, and the person who filed this report obviously falls into that category. I have been treated with nothing but respect at PCC and I plan to continue working there while I finish school.  Then again, I speak fluent English so maybe it's easier for me.  Perhaps the person who filed the report should find something that grooves better with their skills... I might suggest farm work or some other form of manual labor. Clearly the type of job that requires communication skills and/or some form of base intelligence isn't in their repertoire.

In conclusion, if you are looking for work in the Mesa area, and have at least the IQ of a turnip, then PCC might be for you. If, however, you're a self-pitying excuse maker, and you prefer to mask your inefficiencies behind a wall of self-serving excuses, then you may want to consider McDonalds... Or just call Dr. Kevorkian and fast forward to the slowly approaching end of your misery.

The type of rebuttal that came back from the PCC from a supposed appreciative employee is a lot of garbage from some type of red neck lunatic. First, to say that a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate from Dickinson College in Carisle, Penna who also has obtained an MD and a New York state medical license is not intelligent enough for a menial job like this is shocking. Second, to say that someone who has the aggressive drive and character to earn these things in life is too shy and not aggressive enough to do such a job well is also a lot of nonesense.

I worked at the PCC to pick up some extra cash for my family because I thought such a politically oriented job might be interesting for awhile. I was doing the exact same high quality work in such a demeaning position after one year, as reflected by the evaluations I received from the staff, when Margaret Demello, the President of the firm, and Ron English and Wesley, the managers, started fixing the calls against me. During the entire first year I raised a lot of money for this firm and I earned less than poverty wages.

It has become clear the calls can be fixed in this place with calls to large donators being given to select people in the call center. And it has become clear that Margaret and Ron and Wesely are lieing when they say to be hired at the PCC and to keep a job and be given career advancement opportunities does not have anything to do with your own political orientations. This place is actually a front to catastrophically ruin liberals who actually do not support some of the ultra conservatism of the Republicans. The place hires just about everyone and than works with the local police to get reports on the true political orientations of the employees. Than if certain people do not come around and offer blind support for the right wing fanaticism of many of the Republicans they are pushed out of the job by being given bad numbers for calls where it is almost impossible to raise money. The amount of money to be raised to hold the job is also raised for these employees. Than Margaret and Ron and Wesely obviously file reports with the Justice Department that there is someting wrong with these people and that no other firms should hire them.

Furthermore, the working conditions can cause cardiac problems and I am told several young men and women have died from sudden cardiac arrest working in this place. I never heard of being told the best way to produce is back to back calls with no breaks between calls. That is absurd and is tyranny.

Also, why are dozens of people hired and fired daily at this place. I think there is a fishy scheme going on where there is some type of tax credit for hiring new people and so without a concern for ruining peoples reputations this place puts down perfectly decent, hard working, ambitious and intelligent young men and women as morones as they are pushed out of their jobs around the clock. Or maybe Margaret and Ron and Wesley are just sadists who enjoy ruining peoples lives in such manners.

I am very sorry I ever worked at this place when I decided to check into some new career paths at middle age. I hold to my position that the PCC is a slave labor camp. As a matter of fact working at this trash place ended up driving me and my family out of Arizona!

Furthermore, I forgot to mention there are no benefits for working at this firm.

I think there should be investigations of the PCC and that it should be shut down. As for the Republicans, I do not necessarily disagree with all of their positions. For example I support their positions on placing a high degree of respect for traditional family values for married couples with kids.

But,I think this call center is ruining the image of the Republicans and not helping them. I think if they do not act aggressively and investigate this call center they will be sorry. Because someday when criminal investigations are opened up and there are arrests and convictions of some of the people in this call center the Republican Party will take a fall for this.

Margaret claims she does not actually work for the Republican Party and can act independently of Republican Party wishes. That does not make sense. Are the Republicans sure they like this arrangement? It was after all Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, who lead the US Civil War to try to wipe out slavery across the USA!

I had some further thoughts about the poor mentality of the person who hit me over my criticisms of the PCC. To imply that farm workers are ignorant and stupid people is ashame. Farming is the backbone of America and without intelligent, committed and hard working farmers our nation would starve to death. I only wish I had the opportunity to work alongside America's farmers who deserve a high degree of respect. Obviously the person who attacked me over this is not a very nice, well informed or intelligent person!

Furthermore, the PCC staff demands that all call center employees read directly from a script. There are no deviations from the script accepted. Call center moderators listen in on the calls and consider firing people who try to show a little creativity in their approach to the potential donors. This is not a good idea when dealing with highly intelligent and motivated employees who need room for some creativity to be able to perform well. Obviously Margaret and her managers place no trust in their employees which inhibits their ability to produce well, feel good about themselves, feel good about the firm and move ahead in life. Even grade school teachers purposely give young children more responsibility and trust in their classrooms in order to help them develop well in mind and spirit. In fact I allow my 7 year old son and 10 year old daughter to play independently and work independently on their own computers on the Internet in order to help them develop self-confidence and to move ahead quickly in life. They have been playing and working independently on computers for years and they are doing great in school!

Aso, I would not run this entire business the way it is being run. The inefficient manner in which it is being run is wasting money. There should not be moderators listening in on every call with criticisms of every little thing. The scripts should be thrown out and the call center employees should be told to work hard, aggressively, and creatively to raise money. Than at the end of each month the amount of money raised across the entire office could be checked out and any particular problems could be confronted. And of course this would only work if the calls are not fixed in favor of good donors for some people and not others. In this way all of the moderators jobs could be done away with and the employees who work hard on the phones could be given regular salaries with the extra money!

There is no way employees feel a corporate connectedness and allegiance in such a setting where people are hired and fired around the clock. If the people were hired in the first place than they all have the capacity to do the job well if they are treated properly. And if they were treated properly with proper respect, proper pay, proper benefits and a feeling of security for the future than perhaps more employees at the PCC would identify with the firm as being an important part of their lives. I talked with dozens of employees and past employees at this firm who felt it was being managed like a junk operation and who felt the firm was ruining their futures.
