This is Bruce Edwin, Starpower Entertainment Group, LLC, writing in response to the false statements made by the individual Shelly Vavrick regarding her daughter Rhianna Vavrick (Quartz Hill, CA).
Rhinanna Vavrick, a 19 year old adult, expressed interest in signing with our company for representation as a model. Although we felt she was immature for her age, with no experience as an actor or model, we decided to give her a chance based on her look.
She told us with her mother present that she was living at home, had no job, had never had one, was not in school, and said she does NOTHING except likes to shop. We laughed later at this, and figured she was perfect for Hollywood, so we offered to sign her after rejecting many others who had been late, rude, etc that week that looked as good or better.
After telling her and her mother that she needed photos to work in the entertainment business, we told them that they could get them any where. A large number of our clients with major accomplishments had their own photos and we used them. Rhianna and her mother had a chance to find a photographer to work with, but they did not, and instead chose to to shoot with a celebrity photographer named Michael who is one of the four photographers we refer people to.
Shelly, Rhianna's mother paid to shoot with Michael, and of their own verbal and written volition, contracted to shoot with him for zed cards and head shots.
Shelly Vavrick later that week, irate that I told her I would be speaking with her daughter from now on, that she was an adult, demanded that she, Shelly was her momma and she would be holding her hand and going with her on the photo shoot and all auditions. She was her momma she said, and if Britney Spears could have her mom manage her and be with her, than she could too, she told me. I told Rhianna's mother that her daughter was no Britney Spears, and that she was no manager, that we are, and that it is NOT standard for mom's, dad's, boyfriends, pets, etc. to go with adults 18 years or older on audtions. That they are like job interviews.
She persisted to argue with me, demanding money back from Michael he had already been paid and spent on his hair and make up, film, etc, unless she could go on the auditions too. So I told her fine, she could go with her to ever thing, and that we would just tell every one that she was 17 and that her mother was to be with her.
Shelly Vavrick then said she would talk with her huband about it, and get back with me. We offered her what she wanted, what she irrationaly demanded, and got, but then, even that was not good enough for her. She sent off a fax demonstrating her linguistic skills as evidenced formerly, and talking of things on the phone to us that made us all question her state of mind; irrational paranoia's, talking of rapes, murders, pornography, etc. A woman clearly horrifically scared of Hollywood who seldom comes here.
Instead of calling us again, as a rational, civilized human being, Shelly Vavrick chose to spend heaven knows how much an an attorney, that was un-necessary, as we always do what we can to keep our clients or former ones happy or at least treated fairly, and she did so, out of sheer malice I feel, towards the entertainment industry in general.
The statements Shelly Vavrick on behalf of her daughter Rhinanna Vavrick about me, Moira, and this company (Starpower Entertainment Group, LLC) are juvenile, silly, and false. Furthermore, these people have succeeded in hurting since September 11th, 2005, the business and lives of good, honest people, with good, Midwestern values, who are trying to make a moderate living doing what they love.
Should these lies continue to be published by these or any other individuals on this or any other site, we will prosecute for slander / libel / loss of business, et al, to the fullest extent of the law. That shall potentially include, but not be limited to, any publication or website which knowingly disseminates such libelous / slanderous statements in breach of the law.
Sincerely,
Bruce Edwin

If there's anything worse than laughing at someone behind their back, it's writing about it afterward. A lot of 19 year olds still live at home. Many of them are between high school and college and/or whatever they're going to do in life, so it's not so strange that this person would have some time on her hands and maybe be considering the entertainment biz. Your attitude that "she was perfect for Hollywood" speaks volumes. I'm sure you didn't sign her out of generosity.

Starpower Entertainment Group, LLC is a fully lisenced model and talent management company with respected clients including TOM TANGEN, MEL NOVAK, COMASOFT, and more.
We conduct our selves with honesty and integrity, keeping our spirits and bodies clean in order to work 6 to 7 days a week, from 10 to 12 or more hours per day over 11 months out of the year.
Some who can not handle our no bull criticism, our real edification of the tough competition of the model and talent industry, and our no bull approach, would do better to go to a company where they will get babied, and told what ever it is they want to hear.
Some can not handle the reality of this business, and choose instead to lie, belittle, or slander that which they will never be a part of. I have learned in close to a year when I was at Celebrity Justice that the best in this business can be attacked by those who have no grounds to do so. Such is the case here.
Be aware that any who have, or further may slander, libel or defame our namesake, either corporate or private, or any who chooses to disiminiate such malicious damages, will be dealt with immediately in a court of law.
Thank you to those smart enough to think for them selves, including our amazing clients. They, and our work, speaks for itself.

And if I had a beautiful teenage daughter, I'd keep her far away from him. Many mothers do accompany their daughters to photo shoots and agent meetings, and a legitimate agent would gladly letter her to so, without losing his temper. A legimate agent also does not have any up-front charges like he does with the photos he "requires" you to take with a certain photographer (and if you do your research on the glamourmodels.com boards, he is now having would-be models directly pay the photographer and he takes a very big "finder's fee" afterwards.
Also, when you dig a little more on the glamourmodels.com boards, you will find people who have been ripped off by him in the same manner. His bad temper and unprofessionalism has been noted repeatedly. He is also running a talent agency without a license, and gets very defensive and rude when would-be clients ask if he is licensed.
Do not worry about his threats to take you to the court of law for libel and slander. He has been making empty threats like this for years, and his self-importance and inflated ego will be his downfall one day.
Please research Bruce Edwin and Starpower Entertainment before you have anything to do with him. I also believe that his rebuttals on this board are very telling of his character and the person you will be dealing with. And do you want to build a business relationship with a man with poor grammar and spelling skills? I sure would not.
Best of luck to everyone.

Starpower Entertainment Group/Bruce Edwin
Confirmed by the State of California, License Board... StarPower Entertainment is UNLICENSED... They are not legit.
The reason they have only "30" talent signed with them is because 99% of those who meet with them, laugh and walk away... but there are a few who are caught in their web and sign with them.
This is from a previous craigslist posting... as 1 person describes her encounter with Bruce from StarPower Entertainment...
"hey everyone ive met with this Bruce guy, not only is he a complete jacka** but he has no right to say anything about anyone. The man is a fraud, he and his assistant "Mora" are always on craigslist posting ads that look as if they're directly from a magazine looking for girls. When you respond they send you info about their company and if you dont answer when they call they leave you tons of messages claiming they got a gig for you BS. They will tell ANYONE that they have what it takes to be a model,(they dont reject ANYONE, trust me, I'm 5'3, ugly and they told me i could be a model PLEASE) but that no one is going to take you seriously without better pictures. And they claim that you can get better pictures by using their ONE photographer. I asked for a LIST, and Bruce got tongue tied and started making excuses. They assume we are all dumb. They are NOT registered with the state of California, no agency that is would EVER advertise on craigslist, remember that."

Please be advised that starpower entertainment is a unlicensed, pay up front to use their photograper type of agency. they originated in chicago and just moved out here, because they were ripping off to many people. bruce edwin is the owner, a slimy little man who just wants to either a. get with you or b. take your money. i had a huge problem with them this past year in chicago. don't believe me, check them out, investigate. e-mail me. check out glamourmodels.com. i can and will also forward e-mails i got from people on glamour models and craigslist. PLEASE, YOU HAVE TO TRUST ME ON THIS. below is one e-mail i received, check it out... Starpower is not legit. They make claims to have connections and industry knowledge, but in reality, do not know what they're doing. They originally started out as Wicker Park Modeling or some BS and attemped to put on a lingerie fashion show at an "industry party." The supposedly sophisticated penthouse party ended up being in some guy's apartment building with a bunch of nobodies. The smart models left before the runway show (which kept being pushed back for time) even started.
This failure gave them a poor reputation in Chicago, so they changed their name to Starpower and started saying they have connections in LA. More BS! I am sorry to say that you are experiencing this and lost your money. If you find some stuff like this on the internet and want to do it again, question a company's legitmacy before you get involved. Do your research and ask questions. You may also want to educate yourself on how the industry works. For example, never, ever, never pay anybody for modeling gigs BEFORE you get work. Legit agents receive their money in the form of COMMISSION taken from the jobs they get the models or actors. Next time, spend your money on some quality to photos, and submit them to nearby licensed agencies. Good Luck!

Some of you are probably wondering why I'm repeatedly making these postings about Bruce Edwin Aho and the Starpower Entertainment Group. Well, it's simple - I was involved with him in what seems like another lifetime, and he has also ripped me off repeatedly when he was publishing Subnormal, and I was a contributing writer to his publication. I also scouted models for him briefly, on the streets of chicago and through the internet.
I've witnessed repeatedly and firsthand, his horrible temper and how everything has to be done on his time and his terms, with no flexibility whatsoever. I was there when the owner of Aspidistra Books, a small business in Chicago, declined to do an advertising deal with Bruce. Bruce got into a verbal altercation with him, which was very out of line.
I've also witnessed his hypocrisy, when he would mock my writing skills and yell at me for not correcting my typos. When the seventh issue of Subnormal came out in 1999, I was flipping through it and there were numerous grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors from his own written reviews and features. I've also invested money towards his magazine, which he promised to pay back after publication, but I haven't seen any of it, along with the free issues I was supposedly getting as a contributor.
And that was only from being involved with him on a professional level. Personal was much, much worse.
There's no point in filing a complaint against him for what he did years ago, but after seeing all negative postings about him, it sickens me to know that he's still conning people, especially young women. I'm sure he's right at home in Los Angeles, where it's full of beautiful young women who go there to become models and actresses.
I have not seen any positive postings about Bruce Edwin Aho and Starpower Entertainment. Not one. And why isn't anyone else standing up for Bruce, besides himself? Why doesn't he have any friends who want to refute these statements and help him protect his reputation, since he is such a wonderful person and competent talent agent?
It's true that I'm not "one of the best in the business". Hell, I'm not even in the business, nor do I ever want to be. I love my job as a writing tutor and am still pursuing my longtime goal to be a novelist. I've got a loving boyfriend who works at an organic supermarket, who truly supports my future aspirations, instead of belittling them. My life might not be full of celebrities and money, but at least I can go to bed at night, knowing that I'm not a parasite who takes advantage of other peoples' dreams.
Sweet dreams, Brucie.

This site is a great place to let off steam,no matter how paranoid or irrational you may be, but, folks, don't take it seriously. I would recommend, if you are an entertainment industry professional, or wannabe, try the IMDB, where users are not losers, but credentialed insiders.

I already had pictures and unlike all the other agencies I went to I didn't have to get new pics to get signed with Starpower. My friend didn't have pics and he helped her find a great photographer, who charged less than she was asked to pay by other photographers. Yes pictures are expensive but it's part of modeling. I am doing really good with this company and people shouldn't lie and say they are unlicensed. I almost didn't go in for my appointment when I saw what Shelly wrote but I'm glad I did, because I am making money!

I do not know why they keep coming on here to defend themselves when anyone who knows anything about the industry can easily search "starpower entertainment" on here
http://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/dlselr/Talag.html
The california directory of licensed talent agencies and find that they are in FACT NOT Liscensed to work as agents in the state of california. Not having an agency license not only means that the agency is not legit but it also means that the jobs they find you are the same shitty ones posted on craigslist that you can access for free. In order to use LAcasting or Breakdown Express to find roles that only AGENTS have access to you need to be LICENSED!
Also, here is proof that they are not a sag franchised agency
http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application?pageid=AgentInformation&portletid=FranchisedAgentLists&wfevent=validate&target=find_agent&agent_type=franchised
They claim they are legit, but where is the proof?
I'm giving you proof that they are not legit, if you can't tell by Bruce's attitude alone. Ive worked in talent agencies, agents dont sign people who they think are jokes like Bruce claimes to have signed that 19 year old and laughed behind her back. Spoiled brats who dont have any work ethic are in fact NOT the type of people ANY agent wants to sign, and if he claims that she was so stupid then he is even more idiotic for having signed her.
Ive met with the guy a few years back when I did not know how to verify if an agency was legit, I had NO idea how they got my phone number but they kept sending me voicemails telling me i was "perfect" for this commercial. I came in to interview and they had NO idea who i was. Ironic how they said i was perfect for this and that role yet when i came in they had never seen me! They were shocked because i looked young and asked me if my ID was fake. Then they made me strip down to a bikini,Luckily I'm not "voluptous" otherwise im sure Bruce would have been getting off to it. He was extremely rude and was spitting bullshit out of his ass trying to sound as if he knew the industry and was jaded. Legit agents DO NOT do this, no matter how pissed off they are at the industry. then he told me i could be a model (even though i am 6 inches too short to be a model) but that I needed new photos and that i HAD to pay for my photos even though i told him i knew photographers who could shoot me for free. He insisted i use his ONE photographer and i asked if i could pick my own. He got mad at me over this
later i found out that the way they harass talent is by posting ads on craigslist that look like casting calls. they do not say they are from starpower entertainment. thats how they get your number. a few months later, they called me AGAIN completely oblivious to the fact that they had already met with me. they scout via craigslist because they know a lot of the talent there are newcomers and are easily manipulated. please do not fall for this moron's act. i just sent you two sites that you can use to verify legit agencies and please remember, NO AGENCY EVER USES CRAIGSLIST TO FIND TALENT.

There is a difference between a business license, which you need in order to run a real business and an agent license. In order to procure jobs for talent in California, you MUST have a talent agent license. It is absolutely against the law to get jobs for clients and take a comission if you don't have a talent agents license. Everybody, please be aware of this before working and signing with an agent or manager who isn't exactly HUGE in the industry. There are also many ways to check if someone has the license required to do the job they're doing. dir.ca.gov/databases/dlselr/Talag.html

This PSYCHOPATHIC CREEP Bruce Edwin preys on young women, read all the other comments about him here for details I don't need to repeat. I just want to add that one of his SCAMS is to rope young women into a ridiculous contract that says they have to return his calls within an hour and do everything he tells them to do or else they have to pay him $50,000!
My daughter got sweet-talked into signing his stupid contract and then too late she researched him and found out what a sleazeball everybody else already knows he is. By that time however she was experiencing his sleaziness herself in the form of threats, which nobody needs to be put through.
The funny thing is that he is violating California law by offering services he is not legally entitled to offer, so his threats of court action are just bluffs. If he ever did take anyone to court he would probably leave in handcuffs as soon as the judge realized he was a scammer perpetrating frauds. So don't take his empty threats too seriously because he is all mouth and just a phony fake fraudulent jerk.

M's imdb suggestion isn't helpful. Sure, we find out that this Bruce did publicity for Madonna and interviewed Jewel, but this was back in 1999. What does any of it have to do with what's been going on now and in the recent past? Just because someone does publicity for or interviews a public figure doesn't make them valid, legitimate, or important. They can still be scammers and frauds. It's not surprising that large corporations like Bank of America and Taco Bell are getting complaints on here, that's to be expected. They serve millions daily and there's bound to be a dissatisfied customer in the bunch. But for someone one a much smaller scale, like this Starpower Entertainment Group, who has received four complaints this summer...well, that's a lot more telling.
Another telling factor is M's kiss-off of the complaints on here, insinuating that the users "are losers" and that they're "venting," "paranoid," and "irrational." Have you been on some of the imdb movie boards? There are quite a bit of losers there, too. Besides, Ripoff Report is a place to vent when someone's ripped you off.
Paranoid? Irrational? All of the complaints here against Bruce and Starpower sound pretty valid to me, especially when they're all similar in nature.

Lets start this with a few basic FACTS that people should be aware of. A lot of people have posted comments that are their opinion and they have every right to them. But Facts are facts... here is a few pieces of food for thought.
Ha wrote: "There is a difference between a business license, which you need in order to run a real business and an agent license. Star Power never claims to be an agency. They are a management company. You do not need an agency license if you are a management company. I love reading posts from people who DO NOT WORK IN THE INDUSTRY OR NEVER HAVE and they are giving out false information. The difference between an agency and a manager are as follows. Agents have more hoops to jump through to get the license. The also have to maintain an employment bond. Both Agents and Managers can "book" jobs for their clients, Agents are allowed to negotiate the "booking" or "Rate" and any and all ad ons, Managers can not. Agents and Managers both are up to receive a commission, Difference is with an Agent the Client cuts a check to the Agency and they in turn pay their talent (See the need for the employment bond now) A manager will have either two checks cut one to them and one to the talent or one to the talent and Manager invoices talent.

ONCE AGAIN WRONG!!! There are 4 LEGIT Casting Notice Services in the eyes of the Industry.
1. Breakdown Services, Been around since 1972 and started the electronic submission service. They are still the big dog on the block. They Post mostly Features and Episodics. (They are also known as AA or Actors Access)
2. LA Casting (Now Known as Casting Networks) they started in the bay area and are now down here. They post a few Episodics and mostly Commercials and New Media.
3. Ascend Casting, Founded and run by an active Casting office, not only do they post Projects for Features, Episodics and commercials they also cast projects for companies like Net Zero, Disney, Nike and many others.
4. Now Casting is a good company if you are starting out or getting your feet wet as they post for a lot of the smaller or low budget projects. But they are a good site.
NOW ALL OF THESE ALLOW AGENTS AND MANAGERS (YES MANAGERS) to submit through the service. Most of them require for a manager to submit talent that they have "a working relationship" with Casting Directors in the industry who post and cast through the services.
If you are going to comment about the industry at least be informed, and don't take the word of people on glamourmodels.com or other sites that produce "Leads" for the likes of JRP, Barbizon and the JC's out there.

Part of what Shannon says makes a world of sense; just not sure that anyone who is writing about an "EX" is a good person to be making comments. Not all of my ex's would be spoken favorably about. YES Legit Agents get paid from booking their talent on gigs, Keep in mind THAT ACTING/MODELING/MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT ALL HAVE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES THAT HAVE TO BE PAID. ICM, CAA, WILLIAM MORRIS, UTA... I'M SURE WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT THEY ARE "LEGIT" FIRMS AND NOT ONE OF THEM WILL SIGN SOMEONE WITHOUT HAVING HEADSHOTS, COMP CARDS, A BOOK, ACTING CLASSES OR WHAT EVER ELSE IS NEEDED TO PROMOTE AND BOOK TALENT FOR WORK. Good ranges for photos are 250.00-500.00 for Headshots and 350.00-1,100.00 for a comp shoot. If you want to make it a profession then you need to behave and represent yourself like a professional. The ONLY TIME you would pay up front would be to a "Call service" as they are offering you a service to place you on set.(Mostly Extra Work, but a good way to get your 3 S.A.G. vouchers, and the number might be going up to 5 or 8 depending on the vote after the first of the year, and the price is also going up. ALSO IMPORTANT::: Vouchers are only good for a limited time so if you get all three go to the office and register them so they wont expire. I put off joining S.A.G. for 3 years after getting my 3)
As for 19 year old talent wanting to take their Mom or guardian with them to shoots and auditions. FORGET IT... BRITTNEYS MOM TOOK HER BECAUSE 1. BRITT WAS, AND I'M PRETTY SURE ON THIS FACT SHE WAS UNDER AGE WHEN SHE STARTED. AND 2. BRITTS MOM IS WORKING AS HER MANAGER... AND NOT DOING THAT GREAT OF A JOB... It is unheard of for an adult to be bringing their mom to Auditions or Shoots. If she booked a gig on 24 Trust me they are not letting Mom on set... On a shoot or acting job they might allow you to bring your agent or manager for a stop in, BUT NEVER PARENTS OR BOYFRIENDS/GIRLFRIENDS AS IT IS A DISTRACTION.
The Bottom line is this, ACTING and Modeling and being in the Industry is a tough business. VERY FEW make it. Less then 5% of S.A.G. members make over 100k a year. EVEN AGENTS AT ICM, UTA, CAA, WM AND ALL THE WAY DOWN HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM. When people don't make it or think they should be getting more auditions or what not it's easier to complain then to try to figure out why you're not working. FACT IS BRUCE EDWIN AND STAR POWER HAVE GOTTIN CLIENTS WORK THAT I KNOW OF ON A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL, WORK INCLUDES SHOOTS FOR DENNIS PUBLISHING (MAXIM, STUFF, FHM) AUDITIONS FOR MANY LEGIT TV AND COMMERCIAL PROJECTS AND A COMMERCIAL FOR NET ZERO (I DID THE CASTING ON THAT PROJECT AND LIKED MOST OF THE TALENT BRUCE SENT ME FOR THE PROJECT AND WILL BRING IN TALENT FROM HIS POOL IN THE FUTURE.)

I've known this charactor for many years, back in the windy city. Long enough to know that he just had a birthday this weekend (happy umm.. 38'th is it?). Long enough to know a few of his deeper secrets.
He's an interesting sort of scammer. His obsession with celebrity and fame is... bizzare. He was wearing dark eyeliner at the Crow bar and trying vainly to be noticed by insiders in the goth/industrial scene, and at the same time as he was fawning over the images and ideas of Jewel & Mariah Carey. He has a hard time seperating himself from celebrity in his own mind, and I still havent figured out where the scam ends and the fantasy begins. I'll tell ya one thing, though: he truely believes in his own greatness. He believes that he's the next Andy Warhol, too.
Just remember this, Brucey: it's allways those who are closest to you that can most easily reach your throat...

It seems that the depth of people's level of hatred, lies, evil and insanity never cease to amaze us- all because we don't re-schedule and tell a mother to have her child wear something AGE APPROPRIATE when she brings her in.
So, due to the what has become the LAST STRAW of libel / defamation, this company's publishing division will be taking some extraordinary steps in the next few weeks, in conjunction with our legal team. Stay tuned here, and to our future online magazines, coming to you in the course of the next month.
There are few celebrities out there we can think of who have not dealt with a stalker. Name a celeb, and chances are, out of their millions of fans around the globe, one of those millions is a nutcase obsessed with that star, trying to hunt them, kill them, scare them, get their attention, extort them, or say they are pregnant with their baby. Now, Starpower's owner here is far from famous, thank goodness, he doesn't want to be, but fact has it, more than one person has been a little batty that he has seen. Even worse, a woman he once knew, who has never even dealt with this company, whose life is so great and happy, she has nothing better to do then make frequent repeated defamatory postings about him on the internet where even a monkey can post a blog and the world can see it. Obsessed crazies are a part of this business unfortunately. Not to worry, we are not in business to give psychos the attention they so longingly desire. Like the nutcases who go on shooting rampages and slaughter innocent lives, these nutcase stalkers who try to destroy through words will get their just punishment in the end.
Peace.

I Think I should be noted that due to so many similarities in construct, verbiage, word patterns and usage (along with a few more obvious factors) I have concluded that -
1.Shannon, Danceswithfascists and Hickey are the same person posting under different names
2. I also believe poster-Chris is somehow personally involved in the matter by his or her acquaintance with Shannon AKA:Danceswithfascists AKA:Hickey .
Other then that, I am totally bias in this matter. I do not personally nor professionally know any of the people that have posted in this matter.

Bruce Edwin is extremely abusive, took money from me, and continued to harrass me even after I told him I did not want to work with him any more.

I just had to respond to 2 things,
1. I met Pauly Shore, after being almost ripped off $6,000 by Bruce Edwin (before I hired a lawyer and got it back). When we met I asked Pauly if he was represented by "StarPower" or Bruce Edwin... I think he would know who reps him, he said he's never heard of him. Then I let him know that Bruce / Starpower was using his name unlawfully, he said "Well there are a lot of crazies, hopefully people will do their own research"
2. Moira, the accompliss, stated that Bruce would be vindicated on IMDb and listed under Madona interviews ect. He is definitely not listed at all neither is Star Power; especially not under Madona. And I have IMDb Pro, so I am not missing anything.
