I have personally worked in the Timeshare Industry for over a decade and have had the great opportunity to gain higher education in other fields to realize that this business strategy is a wonderful concept for consumers who understand the value of the American Dollar and inflation. It can become a gateway for the 'Average Joe' to also experience the value of vacationing and how beneficial quality family experiences become in future times. Having been in the business of Timeshare I also realize that sometimes the consumers are irresponsible to their commitments and fail to take the time to educate themselves on their purchases. I'm a little bewildered of the fact that there are consumers who proudly state in their claim of being "Ripped Off' of how to take advantage of a business entity by "Picketing" or trying to hold a company hostage.
There are documents and materials given to owners that outline the programs involved. It also seems that there was great confusion to the ownership parameters. I know that RCI affilicates can be entitled to 3 RCI Bonus Weeks that can be redeemed one per annual.... Not to be confused with your actual membership. Not sure if this is the way that GEO works, but seems that this might actually be the case. By-the-way - RCI is an Exchnage Affliliate associated with the timeshare interest purchased. I wonder if there was any attempt to obtain further education in order to utilize their timeshare interest appropriately?
The State of Nevada also provides each conusmer who purchases a timeshare interest in the State of Nevada, a 5 day revocation period regardless of which timeshare company it is purchased from. This option is conveyed in every contract derived and executed by the purchaser. It is actually stated in serveral different documents. As a responsible consumer, wouldn't you go home and review your contract agreements to in fact ensure that you had not been misinformed by verbal promises? If a used car salesman told me that I was going to receive an extended warranty for a vehicle I purchased off their lot, I would certainly expect that I would receive some sort of collateral stating such...
I have a question for the member complaining of the escrow procedures... Did you ever recieve a correspondence from the escrow division for the closing of your account? Are you a mortgage holder? Seems that you are highly misinformed of escrow closing procedures. Also, to apply and be approved for an MBNA RCI credit card, you would have needed to fill out and execute an application with pertinent credit background questions and signatures. It would've been up to the consumer to either place the purchase price on a personal credit line or accept the "In House" financing terms. Seems that these specifc consumers did not like or agree to the interest rate involved with the financing.
Folks, please get your facts straight and in order. Remember that we reside in a very litigious world. Have you looked up Disney on this website? Would you still take your children to Disney for their own experience? Keep an open mind as there doesn't seem to be any vaild claims to these gripes.
For the guy who sold timeshare, complaining of commissions.. Is this your first rodeo? It's called a reserve...
Picketers beware!!! There are laws involved with picketing... Be sure not to get involved with defamation and ensure you are competely informed of public laws and not just your freedom of speech ammendments! Just to be careful. There are plenty of timeshare companies with valuable reputations. Remember that there are thousands of happy timeshare owners... Maybe take the time to educate yourselves futher...
