To whom every is thinking about working for CR England I would love to stop you dead in your tracks. I will give you the total rundown of this company. The company sends for you via Greyhound they pay for your ticket you get there and you are in the middle of the country God Forbid if you do not have a cell phone or anyone else there for the program because the greyhound stations phone doesn't work or at least not the station that I was dropped off at.
You wait for the company driver to come pick you up and that could take anywhere from 25mins to and 1 hour waiting. You get to the hotel you don't get to put your things in a room get settled in and call someone to let them know that you made it to your destination safely.
You immediately have to go feel out papers, take a immediate drug test, and then a physical by a doctor that is not even licensed to give physicals. Then after that you carry all your heavy belongings back down to the front desk to get a room.
The hotel room might be the best part of my stay in Harbor, Indiana only because they did something that they are supposed to do everyday which is make up your bed and clean your room and yes you share a room with someone else and for a whole week I had a asshole. They have one shuttle bus driver that takes you into the city and you better be fast because the other 200 or so guest are hungry as well and they want to get out of this dusty boring hotel and get something to eat.
The shuttle bus takes forever to get back and you grow very impatient waiting in the lobby with the other students for the bus to come and take you to fastfood restaurants or K-mart and also God forbid if you don't have the expenses that your good for nothing recruiter will tell you to have. You have to be downstairs by 6:00 in the morning to wait on a bus to take you to their school that comes at 7:15. You arrive to school you have two whole days to cram their Indiana State drivers test, Airbrakes and combination,and General Knowledge down your throat.
So forget everything you know about the Truck Driving book that you picked up from your local DMV because they are going to teach you the Indiana test booklet they have for you in their classroom. No shuttle bus comes to take you for lunch so become friends with the vending machines that they have for you. You leave everyday at 4:30 now you go back to the hotel and try to get food before you get a cram session going for what lies ahead Wednesday at their DMV's.
Repeat the steps I just said for Monday on Tuesday. Wednesday comes it's time to take the test. You pass their state written drivers test, general knowledge, you may or may not pass Airbrakes or Combination that is fine you have until Saturday if you fail their state test you got until the next day.
If you get through all the test know you've got paper work and let's hope that this suspect drug test that give comes back legit or you can throw out the window all the bullshit you went through at the DMV to pass the test which after you pass I forgot to mention they take your license from your hometown like you will never go back their again and make you get a Indiana license and that is their policy that was funny to me too. Now they feel that they own you even though they haven't trained you to drive these trucks yet they have you signing your life away to their student loan.
The company is Eagle Atlantic Financial Services, Inc. Remember the name of that loan company. Now you get to the yard and you get learning how to drive oh and you probably never drove a truck in your life. You don't get to go around the yard no you go straight into it out there on the streets on east chicago Indiana have fun don't get nervous cause you never drove a 53 footer in your whole entire life and you are gonna have to get hip to the double clutching fast or you going home by the end of this week.
Of course I was one of the ones who couldn't get the backing, double clutching, and the other driving technics down so they sent me home said that I didn't have to pay the loan back because I didn't finish the course. Now I have given you a synopsis let me tell you something else to watch out for make sure your background is okay before attending because people got sent home after the fact they took the test and got out to the yard and they had signed the loan papers.
Now that was in August when I got sent home now fast foward to November 9, 2007 and I am recieving papers saying that I have I deliquent loan that I owe $3,121.64 how I owe them is very funny when I didn't even finish the course and my good for nothing recruiter left out the part about it being an advanced course. Oh and if you should make it through week 2 week 3 you go take the state test which the people who came a week before I did mostly failed and they give you three tries at that an then you get sent home.
So how is it fair you come into this naked about the course what to expect and then if you aren't learning to their speed you get cut and they mislead you the whole time and then it's possible they are gonna try and make you pay for the loan they make you sign before you can even go to the yard for the actuall training I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy well maybe not my worst enemy but you get the picture.
