Contracted with Mr. Tibbetts to move 2 boats in 2004, one from CT, and the other from WI. He moved both to IL, unloaded at a truckstop. Never completed, was fully paid. IT IS NOW 2006, I will probably start legal proceedings against him. He is not willing to show me his bonding, his interstate license, nothing.

Failure to Follow Repayment Arrangements

After saying he would make $200 per month repayments on the $3000 owed, he failed to make a second payment. Therefore at the present time I am out $2800 from this individual and he does not keep his word on repayment arrangements.

It has been over three months, continued promised to "Hi Susan, thanks for the call this morning.I hope to have a payment in the mail soon" last one date August 8 ,2006.

There has been no second payment by Mr. Tibbetts, only lead ons.

Will be retaining an attorney on Sept 5 to retract the funds from him.

Again, do not send money to this individual, it would be better giving it to a charity, at least you can get a tax deduction.

Tibbetts makes arrangements for payments but fails to follow through

It was a long summer, it was a cold winter, there are a multiple excuses as to why he can't make a payment on the schedule he set up. It has turned into just like his promises to move the boats, one excuse after another. He refuses to answer phone calls and to answer e-mails. This man has had previous garnishments against him. If you prepay and he doesn't do the job, performs poorly, or damages your transported material, the only way to get repayment is court action.

So, Mr. Tibbetts has been warned that I will be seeking court action and also hold him to attorney fees, damages, and interest.

Promised to make payments, no payments. What ever you do, do not give this person an advance. Ask for his bonding insurance.

Hello Susan,

I feel your pain.  He is now selling firewood in Maine and NH on craigslist.  I ordered a cord and a quarter of seasoned wood from him.  He shows up at my house with the wood and says he will hand unload it, and I will just be in the way to help.  I pay him and he begins to unload.. i go back into my house, and within a few minutes he drives off.  I thought that was quick, but what do i know about unloading wood.  the next morning I go out, to find that he's only left me 1/2 cord of wet wood.  I bought it to burn now, and paid a premium for it. 

I have filed a police report as well as a complaint with the state.

Hopefully he will be caught/charged/fined.  He no longer lives in Wiscasset Maine.. house was sold.

I was also ripped off with his firewood scam.  I will be bringing him to civil court in Maine.  Any advice?
