Did you bother to do your own research before signing any lease?
I am a truck driver too but stayed as a company driver after a lot of research. You can't believe anything these people tell you. I don't work for Swift and never would.
When I researched the of leasing I found that I would make less money than I currently do as a company driver.
With a lease ,yes the company will make sure all expenses are taken out of your checks before you get a dime. These expenses will include fuel, permits, repairs, fuel taxes, tolls and anything else you can possibly think of. You can get a tax break on all of these items.
With the loads...Did you expect to only get light loads once you were a lease operator? Most of the loads I carry are heavy loads. Thats what these trucks are designed for. Even as a company driver I can refuse loads and I have if they go to a place I absolutely hate going to. I know if I do then I have to wait until another is available from the area I am in. With the economy the way it is you should take anything they give you unless you want to wait that extra day for them to find another one.
Your child support is your responsibility. If you don't pay it they suspend your license. It takes more than one short payment for this to happen. If you apply to work somewhere else explain the situation and see if they can have it automatically taken from your check.
With the job we do you need to do whatever you can to protect your license. This is your livelihood.
