Directv is trying to charge for cancellation fees $450.00 when I had their service for 6 weeks when I got  shut off   I can never get a supervisor on the phone and they are the ones who broke the contract to begin with by not honoring my rebate after I talked to ther rep on the phone and he said go online and sign up for the rebate then call him back I did and the rep said I was all set and my first bill would be 34.99 plus taxes I live in mass and the taxes are high here but I got my first bills at 1 week of service in the amount of 68.93 that is almost double what I was quoted they didn't give me the rebate I have called and called never getting anyone that knows crap and they are hiding the supervisor because he/she is to scared to talk to anyone cause that company is a damn rip off they broke the contract first and I have to pay for their stupidity when a person or comapny breaks a contract shouldn't it be null and void on both parties side I would think so I may need to get an lawyer also I never saw in writting that there is a 450.00 cancel fee nor did I sign anything quoting that where are my rights as a comsumer and since when is getting cable a credit towards your credit report they shouldn't be allowed any where near my credit report

Question

AUTHOR: Stacey - Dallas (U.S.A.)

What is the reason your service got shut off? I have had Directv for 7 years and when I signed up I had to sign a contract and knew that contract terms and conditions

As for them "hiding" supervisors that is just asinine - So what is the real story (I do not work for Directv period)

Silly

AUTHOR: Installer6yr - Libby (United States of America)

Well as they probably told ya.  They bill for the first 2 months at a time.  You always pay for your service in advance.  They like to have 1 month advance paid for.

READ FIRST

AUTHOR: mekfekton - jacksonville (United States of America)

I can tell you as an installation technician for the past 15 months, people sign their lives away without reading anything.  its all there if you just take the time to read it. they do bill ahead so in fact your first bill is going to higher than quoted.

hate to say it, but sounds like you fall into this category of 99.9% of my customers that don't take the time to read before they sign.  you must be proactive as a consumer these days knowing that the almighty dollar reigns supreme.  you are the only one looking out for you, i think?

Cancellation Fees

AUTHOR: Nikki25701 - huntington (United States of America)

All of these people are correct. If just 1/2 the population that uses any services with contracts or agreements, just read them in their entirety, what a wonderful world this would be. Oh and the inserts that come in monthly billing statements...YES READ THOSE TOO... Nobody is getting ripped off. just lack of information due to not reading everything one is given.

AGREED!

AUTHOR: big1234 - Lyons (United States of America)

I agree with all the other post. I have been with Direct tv for 3 yrs and they are all that they say they are. There customer service is excellent. The installer was great and sat there for 30 mins while I read the terms and agreements. Next time take the time and read the agreement.
