I booked a hotel room through priceline for total $178.00. Trip was canceled, 20 hours later due to 90 yr old father illness. I canceled hotel room through priceline's website. I never received a confirmation. This was Christmas eve.

Bottom line, I canceled trip within the 72 hour contract period. They refuse to acknowledge email. I do not have a copy because website does not allow one to make a copy before one sends it, so whatever one writes on their website, they can delete. Priceline takes advantage of the consumer. You use their website rules and forget it. They are not honest people.They can delete what they want and you have no copy. Whatever money you think you saved using them before, forget it. They are "cheats".

Do not use priceline. I hope they go out of business They are the absolute worse. I will never, use them again and please do not use these people for anything. There are plenty of other honest websites out there.

When I called them they were rude. All I wanted was a credit not a refund. They just pocket my money.. They are "crooks".

The "law" doesn't protect you!

I'm sorry you had to cancel your hotel reservation, but unfortunately, a 72 hour cancellation notice only applies to certain home solicitation transactions, telephone solicitation transactions, and home improvement contracts.

Since it sounds like you paid up front for your hotel, it means that Priceline must pay the hotel for cancellations. They are not "pocketing" your money. They have paid the hotel for something you agreed to use.

I know it's hard to lose any amount of money, but that's what happens when you try to save some money by reserving a room with a restrictive cancellation policy.

(P.S. Next time, if you insist on reserving a room with a no-cancellation policy, at least purchase the travel insurance)

Avoid this creapy and greedy company

Priceline is etitled to the cancelation fee for canceling the reservation, but most hotels, if not all hotels, only charge the first nights' stay price for the cancelation not the full amount for the full reservation.  To keep the full cost of the reservation may not be illegal, but it is unethical and puts Priceline into a category of one of those businesses that do business on the edge.  And as for me, I would never do business with a shaddy business like this.

Until we as consumers start avoiding businesses like this, companies will contiue to rip us off so I recommend that we all start passing on information like this about companies like this to our Attorney Generals for each state and our friends and neighbors.
