BEWARE OF DEALTREE, SELLING BROKEN ITEMS AS TESTED AND WORKING, but no tester number or initials found !!!

Purchased Sharp LC-20SH20U (a model that Sharp USA won't support, as I later found out) from DealTree. It arrived November 29, 2007. Since it was a Christmas gift or my 12 year old son, and I was purchasing from a company name that sounded legit (BestBuy Outlet was a partner and the originator of the item and in fact listed on the ebay auction) I didn't unpack and test it. My son loved the gift ... except for the part where it didn't work when plugged in and only emitted a high frequency noise. This item was sold as working and tested, but after searching through the box and packing material, no evidence was found that someone had indeed tested it (this is a standard practice, so companies can track if certain testers are not performing their job).

They also "BOOSTED" the price on this $214.00 item to $262.00 when I checked out with paypal !!! As I didn't have time to shop elsewhere and wanted to move forward, I let them get away with an extra $48 as it was agree to this or spend more time shopping. This was not enough for them though, and they then shipped the item to an unknown adress that I didn't supply them, then extracted another $10 for "rerouting" the item to the correct address !!! Again I agreed, as I knew I would never deal with them again as they had proven themselves to be untrustworthy. Still I thought they would have shipped the item as advertised, and just rip me off for an extra $58. By he way, this is only $20 shy of the replacement Dynex HDTV I got for my son on 12/26/2007.

Contacted DealTree on December 26, 2007 and they replied :

"Dear Allen (last name removed),

Thank you for the email and please note after further review it appears that you did in fact contact us within the time frame our return policy requires in order for us to issue the RMA. I do apologize for the inconvenience but I cannot accept this item as a return.

Thank you,

Samuel
Dealtree Customer Support"

SO, they say I contacted them WITHIN the timeframe required AND they CANNOT accept the item as a return.

BEWARE !!!
