I ordered a Sharp Aquos LC52D65U Television from this
company. When it arrived, everything seemed to be in working condition. As I was plugging components into the TV, I
noticed that the part number was actually an LC5255U, different than the one I
ordered. I checked the shipping manifest
and the website, and the 55U was nowhere to be found on their site. According to the shipping manifest, I had an
LC52D65U.
When I called them to rectify the situation, they first
explained that the 55U was the same as the 65U.
Anticipating this, I had the specifications of both televisions up and
explains that they were NOT in fact the same.
The sales rep then offered to give me a $50 discount, which I
declined. He then stated that they could
exchange the television for the proper model.
I was put on hold, and he then came back and told me that there were
none in stock and offered a $100 discount.
I told him I wanted a refund.
I was put on hold again and then the manager, Henry,
spoke with me. He also tried to tell me
that the two models were the same. I
explained that they weren't. He then
told me that he bought a bunch of 65U's from Sharp, and they sent him a Walmart
version, the 55U. I told him that I
didn't care. I ordered a 65U and I
wanted a 65U. He then offered me a $200 discount, which I declined. He stated my only option was a refund, which
I accepted.
I was put on hold, and the sales rep answered, stating
that some 65U's would be in in 10 to 12 business days. I agreed to wait for the 65U to arrive. It has been 15 business days, and no
television is in stock. I have now asked
for a refund. I believe that they have
no intention of rectifying this situation.
To make matters worse, I had a friend call and inquire as to the
availability of the 65U (which they show as being in stock on their Web site),
and they told him that they had some in stock.
It was only after he mentioned that he knew that there were
"different models" of the 65U that they told him he would be
receiving a 55U. When he asked again
about the 65U, they said it would be in stock in 10 to 12 business days. Sound familiar?
This
company also has hidden charges of shipping insurance of about $125. They also
charged us $50 for the stand and remote even though these items are
contained in the description of the item on their website.
It is my assertion that this retailer is trying
to get rid of some Wal-Mart TV's and advertising them falsely. What's more, I am out $426 in shipping (on
which, I suspect, they're making a profit). I think that a company like this should not be
allowed to conduct business in such a manner.
