I first got a notification that appeared to be from the post office, saying that someone with my name and a St Louis, MO address, had changed the address to mine and the mail would be forwarded to me. I was asked to call a toll free number if the forwarding order was not initiated by me. I called and said it was not me.

Same day, my husband also got a similar yet different notification too. I asked him if he had ever lived at that address because he had previously lived in St. Louis. He said "no".

A couple days later I got mail forwarded to me with no return address on the envelope informing me that I had won a sweepstakes. I was informed I had won $250,000 US dollars and there was a legitimate looking check from Comerica Bank in Bloomfield, MI in the envelope for $4980. I was told to call a Lewis McGregor at the phone number prior to cashing the check. This money was supposedly to be for taxes on my winnings.

Anyone who would legitimately win such sums of money would receive a certified envelope with full disclosure, so I was immediately suspicious. When I googled their company name I found many others who have received the identical letter.

I'm posting this as well so others will not be caught by this ripoff, but also to warn against calling that fake post office number. My husband did not call it, so he did not receive a check. But since I called it, these scammers were able to verify my name and address.

Watch out. These people are very clever and you've really got to be very, very careful.
