While searching in a very bad job market, I spent hours daily conducting research for many different types of possible positions. I came across an ad representing jobs at the USPS. I called the 800 number, thinking I was speaking with a USPS employee. They said it was necessary to purchase the study materials before taking the postal exam. They said, and the paperwork I received states, "For a refund due to "not passing the exam," For a refund due to "not getting a job offer after the first interview," "For a refund because "an exam/opening has not been offered or available," and "for a refund "after one full week of work," please contact a lie Customer Care Representative at 1-800-709-0162.

I registered, as instructed, on the USPS website, for a position to open in my area. I was informed to regularly check the USPS website, as available positions were updated weekly. If I had any problems, I was told to contact customer service at the above number. I was told that I needed to sign up for testing, when the appropriate test was being offered, two weeks in advance. I was also given a customer code #AQA6962.

The telephone number is disconnected, my $130. is gone, and, although I did receive a study book, there has not been an opportunity in my area for a USPS position. I was guaranteed my money back if this were to happen.

Hate To Tell You But...

AUTHOR: Cory - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

The post office is suppose to be laying off thousand of full AND part-time employees. I don't think they're gonna be hiring any new employees anytime soon. All those part-timers who were hoping to get on full-time are being let go after years of waiting around for the few slots to open up. They're probably still giving the tests though.

The Post Office does not charge a fee to apply for a job

AUTHOR: Michelle - Highlandville (U.S.A.)

Check out Clark Howard's website. He mentioned a similar story to this one on his show this past weekend. According to him the Post Office DOES NOT charge anyone a fee to apply for a job. Whoever you dealt with is scamming you. These kind of scams are getting pretty popular nowdays with the economy in the toilet.
