Universal Gas & Electric said the rate of natural gas wouldn't go down in 5 years. Southfield Michigan

Letter sent to the BBB, they said they couldn't do anything about the early termination fee.

On October 9, 2007, Universal Gas & Electric went around to homes in the Alpena, Mi area and said they would give us a rate of 1.049/ccf for our natural gas. With the way the economy was going we had no idea that the rate would go much lower. So we signed the contract for 5 years.

In April, (((competitor's name redacted))) came around to the Alpena area and said they would give us a rate of .699/ccf which is .35/ccf less than what we are paying and we do not have to sign a long term contract with them like Universal Gas & Electric did.

I understand that we signed the contract with Universal Gas & Electric, but if another natural gas retailer can give us a lower rate without a contract, then I don't think it is fair for Universal Gas & Electric to hold us to an unfair contract with the state of the economy when people are trying to save a few bucks. Universal Gas & Electric sent me a letter saying that since I terminated early that I had to pay them $250 early termination fee.

Can you do anything about this for us so we don't have to pay this ridiculous early termination fee of $250
