Our family just adopted our first dog last Sunday, 10/16/11 at Petsmart in Chandler, AZ. We noticed that it had colds & cough and took it to Banfield Pet clinic at Chandler, AZ location (inside Petsmart) for a checkup on 10/17/11. The vet prescribed antibiotics & cold medicine. Paid a total of $44 for all the medicines (mind you $44) and $41 for the visit. Our dog is now coughing real bad and the condition seemed to have worsened. Called up Banfield today 10/21/11 for a follow-up visit but was told we had to pay again $30 to be seen by the vet. In other words, we got screwed on the first visit because whatever the $44 worth of medicine we bought from them did not work. Now we are screwed again because we are being asked to pay for the checkup (mind you this is within the week) and who knows what will be the cost of the medicine this time. It is totally ridiculous and absurd to be paying again when they screwed up to begin the first time. Will never go back there again and will definitely tell all our friends/relatives/officemates about the bad experience.

If your washing machine breaks and the tech misdiagnoses the problem, it would be fair to expect no charge for a correct diagnosis.
I'm not sure how hoow things work in your world, but medical issues (for both people and animals) are not that cut and dried. If you visit your doctor, he prescribes medication and it ends up not doing the trick, is your next visit to the doctor free? I don't think so. Has that ever happened to you?
Works the same for animals.
