Hello,

I am a volunteer with a local weimaraner rescue.

Our organization picked up 4 4 month old puppies that I feel certain that this vet DUMPED at a local shelter.

These poor babies are sick and now have distemper. How can this vet dump these poor innocent babies like this? They have not been taken care of properly and now could die. They either contracted the disease at the vet's office of the shelter where they were dumped. Either way, distemper is deadly. Not to mention the other unsuspecting pets that could get this since it is air borne. Let alone if someone adopts and takes a sick animal home only to expose their own and future animals.

If these babies contracted this at the shelter, then they are to blame too. But, first hand, the vet should be ashamed of him or her self for doing this and putting these poor defenseless babies lives in danger, not to mention the expense.

I hope you can live with yourself for doing this. You should at least try to redeem yourself and donate to the onging vet bills that they now have incurred.

Shame on you.

People, if this in fact the vet that did this to these poor beautiful 5 month old weimaraners, think again before you take your animals there. One, if they got the distemper at the vet's office, you are at a grave risk of your animal getting it. Be prepared and think twice. Be sure you are current on your shots!

"I feel certain"

AUTHOR: Emma - Watkins Glen (U.S.A.)

Let me start off by saying I have never used this Vet, and I am so sorry for the puppies having to go through this ordeal. However to post such a negative report on this Vet based on something you FEEL may have happen is in poor taste. Do you know he dumped the puppies for sure? Or do you only think he might have? Also in regards to the distemper, it is a terrible virus for any dog to contract. But as it is an airborn virus a dog is in grave danger of contracting it anywhere, such as the park, any local pet supply store, or the sidewalk, unless the dogs shots are up to date.

While it is a shame the vet(may have) dumped the puppies at the shelter, it sounds as it is not known for sure where the puppies picked up this virus. Unfourtunatly shelters have no control over the dogs that are droped off there. If a dog with distemper came in, and the puppies came in right after, the puppies could have pick up the virus then. Since distemper has a 14 day (roughly) incubation period, it would be hard to determine when the virus was pick up.

Good Luck with the puppies, and kudos to you for your voluteer work

Yes the vet did

AUTHOR: D - Burleson (U.S.A.)

Thank you for your reply and comments about distemper.

I know that it is air borne.

I also know that this vet did in fact dump these puppies at the Galveston Animal Shelter.

Granted they MAY have gotten distemper else where, I will give you that, HOWEVER the VET could have called the rescue to pick them up at their cost and not dump them at the shelter. That is totally wrong. There are organizations out there which are better served for the betterment of the animals than a shelter where after a given time, they are killed.

I wish I knew who dumped them at the vet to begin with. They should be brought up on charges for abandonment as there are laws against that.

Now, the rescue organization will bear the costs to try to save their innocent lives.

They should be out playing, not in a sick bed.

Their puppyhood has been taken from them by the neglect of the Vet and Galveston Animal Shelter.

What kind of caring is that?

Dr. Page is a good doctor

AUTHOR: Gsdbocephus - SANTA FE (U.S.A.)

I have read your alligations and find that you seem to be fishing for someone to blame...
Dr. Page has been our vet for YEARS. We enjoy going to her...
You said yourself that there was no way to tell where the pups got their distemper since there is a 14 day period. This, you said yourself.

Dr. Page and team MAY , (and I say may because even you have no solid proof that she or anyone in her office did this) have dropped off puppies for adoption at the shelter.
Many people send animals to shelters all the time... That in fact is what they are there for.
It is possible that the puppies contracted this even before going to Dr. Page and she may not have had them for the 14 days therefore not knowing that they had distemper.

Or, LIKE YOU SAID, they could have gotten it from the shelter. There are many other dogs there. And several of the dogs are adopted out daily. There is ABSOLUTLY NO way to tell where or when they got it.

If you want to blame some one... Blame God, life, or whatever you need to...
You getting mad at Dr. Page and her staff for this would be like me getting mad at YOUR MOTHER for letting you get the flu or a cold.

They are things that happen.

Reality Sucks

AUTHOR: Ppatty - Houston (U.S.A.)

While all vets may begin their careers with a sincere love of animals, their desire to help animals is soon confronted by harsh reality: you need to make money to stay in business. If veterinarians provided free medical care and housing to every animal that was dumped on their doorsteps, they would soon find themselves out of business.

It would have been nice if the vets had treated the puppies and found placements for them, but the reality of the situation is that vets are not in the business of rescuing, rehabilitating and fostering animals. The other reality is that the vets probably would have been within the law if they had simply euthanized the puppies instead of taking them to a shelter. So, it's pretty much a case of being grateful that they at least allowed the puppies to live.

I agree, they could have and should have done more for the puppies. It's not a lot of work to phone a rescue organization and ask them to come get the dogs.

Dr.Richard Silverberg

AUTHOR: Richard - Saint Augustine (U.S.A.)

Why are you so angry.Shelters are ripe for acquisition of disease even with their best efforts. If you want to be angry be upset withyourself for not being aware of the many diseases veterinarians may be exposed to in the course of their career and even the risk of clients in any facility.

You have NO PROOF!!

AUTHOR: Kdorsey - Santa Fe (U.S.A.)

I DO know Dr. Page and she is a wonderful Vet and a great person. She has taken care of my animals for over 15 years.

If you have no proof WHY would you try to ruin someones impeccable reputation? This is off a hunch ?? I'm glad that in this country you are innocnet until proven guilty, because you have already tried to crucify her by bad-mouthing her on the internet. You have NO RIGHT to make such blasphemous comments about this doctor or clinic without proof....oh well, except for the right of freedom of speech.

You left no name.... humm.... makes a person wonder why you are so free to trash someone, but ashamed to leave you name. I left mine...call me anytime!

Way out there on this accusation

AUTHOR: L Maxson - Galveston (U.S.A.)

Dr. Page has been my vet,(for 12 years) and I know her to be a very caring and careful vet and person. She would never knowingly dump a sick animal off at a shelter to allow other dogs to become sick. First, she would do anything to treat the dogs had she known they were sick. Second, she has adopted herself many animals that have been "dumped" along the road or in front of her clinic. She treats every pet as if it were her own, and takes terrific care of them. I guess my bottom line is, provide proof that she knew they were sick, it is a disgrace and shameful to hide behind an initial, as you are. Obviously if she did bring these dogs in, as you say, she had no way of knowing they were sick, she did what anyone else, vet or not would do with four abandoned animals, took them to the shelter for adoption by loving families. Do not place blame because she cared enough to give them homes, and not just dump them as their owner did.

This is a hoax

AUTHOR: Lcah - Santa Fe (U.S.A.)

There is absolutely no truth to this story. My clinic never had 4 weimaraner puppies in the clinic even brought in by a client. I also have never DUMPED any puppies at any shelter. Please provide any proof as this is a complete lie.

Loving Care Animal Hospital is Great!

AUTHOR: Whited - Santa Fe (U.S.A.)

I have been taking my dog, whom I dearly love and treat as though he is a child, to the Loving Care Animal Hospital in Santa Fe, TX, for about 5 yrs now. I've never, not even once, been dissatisfied with the care Dr Page has given us. She loves animals! I find the original complaint very hard to believe!

First of all, the person complaining lives in Burleson, TX..... that is, at the very least, some 300 miles away from Santa Fe, TX. That just doesn't make sense. If someone has posted a lie about this business then it makes sites like this one useless and unreliable. I believe this to be a terrible, malicious, hoax.

There are people in this world who live just to hurt others. And like my favorite TV judge, Judge Judy, says....

"If something doesn't make sense, it's not true."

She is HORRIBLE

AUTHOR: Tiffany - Alvin (U.S.A.)

I would not put it past Dr. Page to have done this. I am a resident of Santa Fe Texas and I can personally tell you, she does not have a good reputation in this area. I have been to her personally with one of my animals and left with a sick feeling in my gut about this woman. I will never allow her to touch an animal that I care about at all. Not only does she mis-diagnose but she shows no compassion towards her furry clients at all. And yes, I agree that vets should make money too but she always tends to mis diagnose with diagnoses that cost an exuberant amount of money. On top of my experience with her, there are way too many horror stories about this vet to disbelieve all of them. Whatever you do, choose another vet !! Or kiss your beloved pet good bye.
