I have 2 dogs and I treat them the same way I do my kids. When I first came to the clinic, I had heard great things because the doctor who used to be there, Dr. Reabe was great and gentle with our animals! My whole family including my Grandmother, Aunts and Mother has went to his office for over 20 years. I never had any doubts when it come to the car of my animals. The sad thing is Dr. Reabe is no longer at this office, and it's another doctor who is taking his place. They still have Dr. reabe's name on the sihn and all over the office though and I don't even know the name of this new doctor. I guess they said Dr. reabe moved to Traverse city to open a new office and will come in on every third Wednesday a month. I didn't know this when I started going back to this office that had been so great for many years.
I took my 2 dogs in to have a surgical procedure (spayed) and was told it would be $151.00 out the door. I also had a price sheet so I could figure out the things I wanted during the surgery and figure my own price. I was happy and content with that price. Then I was told if I added another procedure (cherry eye removal) it would come to $265.00 so I said ok lets do it. When I dropped them off in the morning I went over the prices with her and made sure what it was going to come to and she said yep it's $150.00. I said should I pay now and she said no when you pick them up which should have been my first sign something was not right.
When I went to pick up my dogs and she told me the grand total would be $415.00!!!! I said what!!!!! They said they didn't add all of the prices into the worksheet they gave me and it must have been a mistake. I was so upset but paid it because what could I do? I had two puppies in pain and a bill in front of me for over $165 more then quoted. So when I got home I noticed my dogs eye was slowly getting red and swollen. 2 days later I called them and said why is this happening and they told me they forgot to send me home with eye medicine drops that cost an additional $15!!! Her eye is still swollen and red and of course, to get it fixed it will be more money!
If you are are worried about your animals health or if you are on any kind of a budget this office is not for you. The staff is rude and nothing like it used to be. My whole family has seen Dr. Reabe for over 20 years and I'm sad to say we will never return again. I have the sheet of prices saved if anyone wants to see how they will quote one price and surprise you with another. I am big on reading reviews so I can find the best things for my family and I usually only leave reviews if I am happy with something, but I'm sad to say this review had to be left at the expense of my two little puppies. I wish I would have done my homework on this new doctor before putting my dogs life in his hands because it was so not worth it!
