Danny Owen-Kohutek of DEKO Weddings offered to film my friends' wedding for $350. He asked for money upfront for DVR tapes and for a Blue Ray player. Having worked with him before I felt comfortable paying this upfront. He filmed the wedding, and began editing. Everything was fine. I made regular payments of $50 a month until the balance was paid off.

After giving him the final payment I asked him for the wedding video. He told me he no longer wanted the Blue Ray player that he purchased and that I needed to buy it from him. I refused, and then Danny of DEKO Weddings told me he won't give me the video or a refund. When I threatened to file a lawsuit against him he said, "Good luck. There is no [written] contract".

Danny of DEKO Weddings has also made false claims on his website and even used footage of the wedding to promote his business without our permission.

He claims ten years of experience in the field, but has only done weddings for about two years part time mostly for friends. He is a full time waiter and does videos to make money on the side. Not a professional at all.

His actions have made what could've been a nice way for my friends to remember their wedding day a way for him to rip off a customer for $350.

Full DEKO Weddings Story

AUTHOR: Rich Dancer - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

I know that those who are considering DEKO Weddings for their services would be intelligent enough to do more thorough research than just one online forum that let's people go on and say what they want. Still, I do want to go on and put this above comment in perspective.

I have put my real and full name because, If I'm going to go online and make a comment on something that could potentially help or hurt someone's livelihood, I want to stand behind my claim with my name and my reputation.

I am currently a roommate to both DEKO, and the person who left the above complaint. That's right, we all live under the same roof. It is important to note that this "claim" was made in the midst of a heated civil war between the two. That's as much detail as I'll go into on that.

There are two problems. One, to anyone who knew the full story, you would have to wonder if this was a character attack in the heat of battle, or if it was a long held business concern. Two, there's a lot more to the issue, on both sides, that won't come out in a one viewpoint electronic posting. They resolved the issue and have a working relationship with one another. The reason I mention that is because it would seem that once the issues were discussed and resolved, the comment would be updated to reflect new developments, but it hasn't been. I just want to put things in perspective for anyone who might use this site to make their decision about DEKO Videos, or DEKO Weddings.

#2 Update By Author

An Update

AUTHOR: John - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

This is John Truant. The report was filed by a bridezilla, and now ex-wifezilla. Danny worked with us closely and was selected because I--not my ex-wife--had worked with him before and new of us dedication to the art of videography. He worked within our budget, traveled 250 miles for the shoot, put in every song she wanted, and professionally dealt with a very demanding bride. Truth be told, she liked the wedding video.

Haven't you ever had someone that just wanted to drop their negativism on you? Someone that wants you to be as miserable as they are? That is who wrote this report.

Look, this reply and the original report comes from the same e-mail, IP address, etc. This is the legitimate report. If this website allowed retractions I would delete it.

Sorry DEKO Weddings. At least you weren't married to her.

Danny Kohutek Coerced That "Update"

AUTHOR: John - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

Danny Kohutek, now doing business as DEKO Vision, was on the same lease as I during the majority of these reports. Under the threat of "making my life hell [for the remainder of the lease]" he said I "better erase the rip off report". In the past he had used techniques such as sleep deprivation to get his way. Richard Dancer, is his friend. With that being said, I would like to give a real update that is not coerced.

Almost one year after shooting the wedding video, and probably after seeing the original rip off posting, Danny Kohutek of DEKO Vision/DEKO Weddings finally presented the wedding DVD. It was a plain blank white disc with no album art in a cheap disc holder. When I watched the wedding DVD there was no DVD menu, there was a long gap in the video where people were talking and music was playing with absolutely no audio playing from the DVD, and he could be seen sitting in the background while I and other wedding guests filmed for him. Overall the quality was very amateurish and disappointing. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (case # 90159416).

Fearful that the voice of this ripped off consumer has empowered consumers to make a wise decision to not go with DEKO Vision/DEKO Weddings, he is trying to pressure me into giving him $5,000 to change his company name!

I will provide an update on what the BBB decides to do with this case.

Sincerely, C. York

Better Business Bureau case # 90159416
