On November 21,2004 Security moving agreed to move our house hold items from Glastonbury, Connecticut to Stockton California at an agreed price of Sixty Cents/lb and a dlivery time of two to three weeks.

On the Phone they never mentioned about any packing charges. When they came to pickup the stuff we were told that the Security moving people have to pack the furniture themselves or they would not haul those items. They charged us $168 for packing.

Also, they did not bring the big enough truck so lots of items wer left at our place that day. When we called them for the remaining items they tried to charge $300 extra for making a second trip.

Thirdly when they took the truck to the weighing scale they weighed 3 additional people sitting in the truck weighing appx. 200 lbs each adding 600 lbs of additional weight to our stuff. This cost us another $360.

Then it took them much longer time than what they promised. They brought the stuff on December 12,2004 to our place. When they arrived here they refused to unload the stuff without getting paid in cash first. They threatened my wife, who was home alone at that time, that they would not unload the stuff and would drive away with our stuff if not paid first in cash.

When she paid them then they started unloading the stuff and left a big pile of the packing trash on the front lawn. By the way they charged us again for unpacking another $168. While unloading we noticed that lots of items were damaged and lost. We asked them to sign a damage receipt but they refused to do so.

We had lots of expensive furniture damaged which they packed and charged us for. We had to make hundreds of long distance calls for filing a claim but they kept giving us run around. Finally they sent us some claim papers. We filed the claims with pictures and all the documentation requested. Our total claim amounted to some where around $600-700. It took them few months to process the claim and then they sent a settlement statement for an amount of $174.

This settlement paper we have to sign with a waiver of right to complian to any agency such as yours. We have refused their offer and now filing an official complaint to your office. We request that you should report to the appropriate authorities to control these moving companies who are ripping peoples off specially knowing when people move from one state to another far far away. Thank you very much.

AUTHOR: Security - (U.S.A.)

My name is Brenda Ross, I work in customer relations for Security Moving & Storage. I would like to make it known that Irfan sent this comlaint in and then signed our standard release form for a claim stating he would make no reports to any companies and that all claims were agreed upon and settled. Anyone wishing to see a copy of his release form or claim check can put in a request @ 888-726-6683. He claims that he was not told about extra packing charges for California, even though he was presented with the packing materials sheet and agreed and signed this before his move was even started. All our customers are advised that packing is an additional charge. He was only charged for $168.00 which is a very reasonable charge for the size of his home. We would also like to state that he claims when the truck was re-weighed there were three men in the truck. This is true what he doesn't tell you is that the same three men were on the truck when it was weighed before his move. Anyone wishing to see weigh ticktes stating these facts can call us @ 888-726-6683. We sent him a 26ft moving truck (Box Truck) which is the biggest truck you can get in the moving industry. He was not charged a $300.00 fee for our second trip, he was strictly charged by weight only. At the begining of his comlaint he stated that we promised him a 2 - 3 week delivery time. He picked up his belongings on November 21 and delivered them on Dec 12. This is the 2 - 3- week time frame we agreed upon. As soon as Irfan called us and told us he had damages we promptly sent him a claim form. He did not take out additional insurance and was re-imbursed for $.60 per lb, the insured amount he was covered by thru our company by law. His claim was promptly put through and a check and release form was sent to him.
