First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation 2 Months + 1 infant + no heat= major problem! Van Nuys, California

We moved into our new house in late October and were offered the peace of mind of a home warranty with the deal. Little did we know that peace would turn to pain very quickly. We reported a problem with our heater and water heater in November 2008. We got the run around for over a month, "We never got the contractor's fax," "we never got your fax," "This employee never would have promised you what you say," etc etc etc. They told us to buy a space heater while we waited, and waited, and waited. Space heaters don't do much for split level homes with cathedral ceilings. We finally had to take a pay out which was significantly less than required for the fix) and use our own contractor.

The water heater still hasn't been addressed and tpday it exploded all over the floor leaking into the garage. When we called First American the first thing the agent told us was that they would not cover any damage to the floor! We are preparing to start the nightmare all over again.
