Godaddy got me. I paid for a domain and web hosting through them for my website last year. A couple months later we decided to acquire another domain and web hosting for another website. Another couple months after that I noticed godaddy started an 'autorenewal' monthly charge of $5 for an obscure web service that was free at the time I started the 2nd website. But wait a minute, I never agreed to any autorenewals! Who in their right mind would agree to be billed for a blind (unknown) amount whenever godaddy felt like it?? Apparently GoDaddy automatically defaults all your settings to autorenew at different intervals. So I went back through both accounts and turned off ALL autorenewals.

Now 1 year later, in the past week godaddy charged me $105+ for several different 'autorenewal' payments. Guess godaddy decided to turn the autorenew back on. This is for the 1st website and I'm pretty sure in the next couple months they'd do the same thing for the 2nd website. So, I went back through my godaddy account to cancel service and acquire a refund of the 'renewal' fees and lo and behold if you try to cancel service a little note pops up on the right hand side that reads "Note: Cancelling a service does not entitle you to a refund or partial refund of services" Lovely! I checked out my 2nd website and saw that autorenew was ON instead of OFF. Guess who doesn't want to pay another $80 for that service in 2 months...

I called godaddy customer support and canceled the services (even though hosting is still showing on the account...?) and was promised a refund within 5 business days. CS says it's instant but may take 5 days to post.  We'll see. Having read some of the nightmare stories where people were still billed years after cancelling, I decided to make a quick phone call to the bank and credit card company as well. Godaddy's billing agreements have been cancelled and blocked. Just to be sure.

I had no problems with the web service itself. Their billing practices however, cannot be ignored. IMO this is theft and scamming unsuspecting customers.
