We contacted David M. Davad in January 2004 to film our wedding which took place in July 2004. I was looking for a videograher and got his company's info off the internet. My fiance and I contacted him and made an appointment to see him. We met him and he was a very nice, pleasant person. We hired him to do the video. He handed us a contract which was 3 pages long with 8pt font all in single space. I started to read it, but he steped in and said" it's just a standard contract." He seemed trusting enough so we signed it, little did we know it would bite us in the ass.

He came to film our wedding ceremony and reception. He left before the reception was done, but we understood we contracted him for only eight hours. He left and seemed to be in good spirts. He never mentioned to us anything that was amiss.

I call the following week to get an update on our video and says we are 7th in the queue.We had no contact till the middle of Sept. when he spoke to my husband and told him he didn't receive the additional material for the video. We sent out our music and our only copy of our honeymoon video. We didn't have contact with him until I started getting worried in december. I called him, but all I got was his answering machine. I left him a message. I waited a week for a response, but nothing. Between my husband and I we called him a total of at least 30 times and left about 15 messages.

I got tired and emailed him. I didn't get a response till three weeks later from his wife saying he was injured and could not finish our video. Mind you this was already over 5 months and still no sign of our video.

By this time I had filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. He responded to the BBB saying that it was our fault! He's the one who never botherd to talk to us! Anyways, so eventually he tells us that our video is ready.

I drive all the way to Schaumburg to the UPS store, expecting what I paid for. Instead I receive one raw footage copy on VHS and bill for an additional $1000. According to him, the extra charges were for overtime and a damaged tripod, which he mentioned nothing about neithe at the wedding nor in the months following. I also had to sign a release form saying that I would not sue him or ask anything of him. I scratched almost everything out and signed it.

This did not make him happy. He threatened to sue us, for what, I do not know. He's such an idiot who thinks he knows it all. Apparently,he thought his stupid little contracts protect him.

Oh, I forgot to say that the "standard" contract we signed in Jan 2005 said we relinquish all rights to a law suit or sueing or anything. The whole contract has clauses to this effect about 100 times.

Of course my husband and I are appalled so we take a risk and give the contract to an attorney who said that not only was the contract unconsionable, but is also void. She also said it was the most ridiculous innane contract she'd ever read.

Once I told Mr. Davad this, he sort of gave up. We agreed that he would send us a the digital raw footage tape and would drop all his additional charges, except for his tripod (which I'm 99.9% sure was not damaged at my wedding).

We received the tape and our honeymoon video, which he claimed for months did not receive.

In the end I had to send the tape to be edited by someone else and we just received our finished video last week (Septmeber 2005).

Moral of the story is: DONT LET THIS ASSHOLE FILM YOUR VIDEO! He's a vile and corrupt person with no human emotions or empathy. This whole episode that lasted over one year was a horrible nightmare. I have not even told most of the story.

I am not the only person to be ripped off by him, at my last check he had 9 BBB complaints.

I feel your pain

I too was scammed by Matrimovie and David Davad. My story was very similar to yours and I did contact the BBB only to have him respond with some crazy letter. We were married 4 years ago and were so aggravated by Matrimovie. I workde with his wife and that is how I was informed about them, I would love to warn every future bride about them. The only joy in your story that I found was the part where his wife said he was hurt and cound not work on it. Good, he deserves it.

I was told we never gave him our materials to finish the editing of our video.

I was told I would get all the raw, unediited video and never did.

He left our reception early also.

I specifically asked him to "interview" our bridal party and that was never done. That was something that was very important to me. I had been in so many weddings where the bridal party and immediate family could give a message to the bride and groom on video and this was never done.

Four years ago DVDs were just coming about, I asked for the completed footage to be on DVD and not VHS and I was told it would be an extra $100 or something crazy like that.

One thing I found funny is on his web page he has pictures of him and happy brides and grooms. All of those pics are photo edited because there is one of us with him and we DEFINITELY did not take it.

David Davad and Matrimovie are a rip off. Scam artists and the furthest from professional.

Sorry you experienced the same thing I did.

I will make this brief, since it looks like my former employee did a great job explaining, if his comments get posted.

1. The comments from these two former customers of ours are completely spurious and each and every allegation is either false, exploitive, or manipulated to be close enough to the truth but spun to appear more valid in their direction.

2. How it is that someone so cheap inside and out, someone so willing to put others through the butcher block just because their scam did not work on a decent respectable person, is just sick. It's bad and sad enough that these two brides had to try to chew me down at every turn on every fee and cost of each thing they wanted, it hurts worse that I bent over backward to try to help them as they cried "poor us."

3. I direct you all who read this garbage and actionable slander to head on over to The Better Business Bureau. I was in business for seven years, in the business since 1986, had thousands of happy customers and clients, and in all that time, I had only four people contact the Better Business Bureau, and each problem was solved. Each person got what they wanted from me by complaining and being a little baby about a couple hundred dollars they OWED ME. How sad.

4. Jill? See you in court. Or at least my Chicago attorney will be looking you up. Fortunately, I wont be flying in for the civil action but I am getting on the phone right now to talk to him and have papers filed by Monday unless we have trouble finding you. I know what you did back when you stopped being my wife's friend, contacting the police, the Schaumburg Village, etc. Your kind of vile mentality deserves what you get but now you will be paying me for your slander and libel. Think not? Keep your eyes peeled for the process server.

5. Jessica? I dont know what to say to you other than you are way off. I did everything I could for you and you and I had an agreement. You told me you were happy with what we had decided and your letter from your husband said so in print. Why the reversal? You got your money back AND your footage all the while I was in traction. Why would you slander me like this? My unconsionable contract was what got us out of court and into a dialogue which you eventually appreciated, or so you stated. It doesn't matter anymore...I am out of the business for some time now, but I thought more of you. Oh well you know what they say opinions are like....

So this is my very last remark to all this...RIPOFF REPORT? I am all for consumer protection and as a long time member of my chamber of commerce and other entities that protected the customer, your entire endevour is tainted with a sense of negativity. Where is the opportunity to allow people to state their side? To be contacted? I heard about this a year later from a friend still in Chicago, just today. I was certainly not in hiding for all those months when I was still in the CHicago area. Why not allow me to address such nonsense before you allow these people to represent themselves in a forum that makes them liable for legal action? Dont you care? Now someone who spoke out against me and wished death upon me will be taken to court, and possibly your website will be held liable, certainly to account indirectly since you state you read each statement before posting. This is squarely in your court and I will be fighting to have your link removed from google and all other search engines. I do hope you consider removing this mean spirited, counterfeit, and illegal posting.

I worked for Mr. Davad and your complaints are 100% CORRECT

Not only did Mr. Davad rip off his customers, he also ripped off the people he hired to videotape for him and his company.

He hired my company to represent his business, MatriMovie, to videotape a wedding in Chicago. He agreed to pay $500 for these services.

Not only didn't he pay, but then tried to accuse me of ripping him off, by cashing a check he never sent.

I will help anyone I can to prosecute this scum. Of course the coward had to run to Florida to get away. Lot's of nice elderly people to rip off down there, I suppose.

The David Davad Confidence Trickster

Mr. Davad is finally getting his much deserved dossier file on RipOffReport.com. Last year, I had the unfortunate luck of dealing with him on Ebay where he quickly ammassed a collection of bad feedbacks from other Ebayers...all within just a two month period!

His frequent misrepresentation of auction items, failure to ship (after receiving payment), and general unethical conduct became a nuisance for the Ebay community.

The bottom line..he's a compulsive fraudster. If you should ever be so unlucky to have to deal with him...Stay Clear, He's Toxic. He'll con his own mom for a dollar.

SLANDER AND LIBEL

Hello,

My name is Jennifer Kennedy, and I worked as the office Manager for Matrimovie in Schaumburg Illinois. I wanted to comment on each of these allegations since I was in direct contact with all the "real" clients who complained to our offices...few as they were.

1. Jill Rinozzi was a person who worked at Embassy Suites with Mrs. Davad and was passed up by Mrs. Davad who was promoted above her. Jill literally had an axe to grind with Mrs. Davad and took it out on Mr. Davad. Nothing was wrong with her wedding. It went great and Frank edited a beautiful wedding DVD for her. Mr. Davad has proof of that should he ever need to do so. Ms. Rinozzi refused to pay what she owed, broke off her friendship with Mrs. Davad, and attempted to slur her at their mutual place of business. her attempts fell on deaf ears though, as Mrs. Davad was promoted yet again to Embassy Suites management in Northbrook. I know this because I am friends with the Davads to this day.

2. Jessica Ramirez's fiance (at that time) was friends with Sam, who was an employee of Matrimovie's. They all ganged up to damage Mr. D's business but were too late, since he had closed his doors after his injury. I worked for him until he did so and helped him close up shop. He gave me a HUGE compensation package, considering, helped me obtain health insurance and paid the overage on Cobra. Out of his pocket. HE helped me and Bobby through the years, gave us a free full boat wedding package when we got married, and helped my husband launch his business. Jessica, Sam, Don, all those folks -if there are that many (I have my doubts) only made these accusations to do harm. It does not bother him in the least, but does harm to me, since I must use Matrimovie and Mr. Davad as my reference and in my job history, and employers look at the internet. I wanted anyone who sees this to know, just ask me. I know the true stories behind all this.

3. This Jeff person (someone that was hired for one wedding) did such a horrid job, we had to refund the couple he did the wedding for entirely. It was a triple booked Saturday, as I recall, and some yokel from Wisconsin was the only person Frank could find to hire for a small ceremony only job. Jeff botched it and YES, he was NOT paid. that much is true. But he should be warned that not only did he not have a contract to be paid, he had a contract to be responsible for the job he did incorrectly and poorly. He left early, and we had to refund the bride fully. I dont know why Mr. Davad refused to file a complaint against him, but he skipped it. He should have.

4. This eBay person is likely Sam. I have no clue and no way of proving or disproving either way. That is the problem with RIpoff Report, Angie's List, Pissed Off Consumer, and others. The Better Business Bureau takes each complaint and compliment seriously, and investigates each one. Why is such a remark even on here? eBay? What has that got to do with Matrimovie? It should all be stricken by my esitmation.

If you are reading this and were a customer of Matrimovie through the years of 1998 to 2005, please take a moment to comment postively for all our sakes.
