there are certain aspects of companies plans that most employee's are not aware of some employers either give misinformation or they dont give you all the plans policies and procedures in your handbooks.
while yes you were approved at one time and after 24 months your benefits ended that was because you had a limited benefit condition. Sear's will only let Metlife pay for so many months/years if your disability falls under one of their catogories listed in the plan that would qualify as a limited benefit condition. if that condition remains the same and the diagnosis doesn't change in that 24 months then Metlife has no choice per Sear's plan to discontinue your benefits. BUT if at any point in that 24 months the condition changed to another diagnosis then you could qualify for continuation of benefits under the Sears LTD plan. i know it may seem confusing, but understand that Metlife doesn't pick your companies plans, its corprate at Sear's who picks the way your plans work from the rules, policies, waiting periods etc...
again please understand im not defending the company because im an employee. i work in the call center, i am not a case manger. but i am familar with complaies plans and policies and just wanted to give you a better understanding. hope it helped. i have been on disability, and believe me i feel for everyone who has ever had issues, i myself was denied for benefits before too and im an employee, so no one has it easy.
