Like many others reporting on this site, I received a letter from Central Billing stating I owed $955.87 for magazines purchased from The Subscription Service in 2012. They were attempting to collect and then threatened to create a negative credit report reflecting on my credit record. They would submit this to a credit-reporting agency if I didn't pay.
I phoned to dispute this bill and was told I had entered some sort of contest and as a result created the bill. This was total nonsense. I responded that I would talk with my attorney which I have done. I have filed a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General and with the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. I will also create a complaint and warning with AARP about this fraud. This is a total scam and Central Billing needs to cease and desist. Actually, they should be investigated and sent to prison.
