It's a long and unusual story, but I'll try to keep it brief:

I am a 24 year former employee of Christiana Care Health Systems, the largest health care organization in Delaware with over 10,000 employees.
I was employed as a Constable/Public Safety Officer, although privately employeed, Constables are also considered Law Enforcement for Delaware.

On Nov. 9th, 2005 several Constables, along with Nursing Management had 4 visitors falsely arrested by the Delaware State Police, the arrests were retaliatory in nature and an abuse of power by the Constables involved.
The Trooper, who made the arrests for some reason knowingly wrote a false report. 2 of the visitors had their charges dismissed. However, the other 2 visitors, former nurses who had worked for this organization were convicted of disorderly conduct for "defying authority". The Judge who made this decision made the fines too small for an appeal. Also according to the Del. Code for disorderly conduct, "defying authority" is not a crime. The 2 nurses and myself believe Christiana Care used their influence to get bogus convicitons because of a potential lawsuit for false arrest, imprisonment, slander, etc.

The arrest report wasn't entered as evidence and the arresting Trooper was not present for the trial, a motion to dismiss the case was denied, although I was advised it should have been. The arrest report clearly contradicts the testimony at the trial and would have proven the false arrest claims.

After the incident, I reported this abuse to various agencies JCAHO, Del. Board of Nursing, Board of Constables and the Delaware Attorney General's office.

After the conviciton the Troop Commander did apologize to one of the nurses
and stated to her that he was willing to investigate the abuse and false arrest claim, but he was told by the Attorney General's office not to.

I am related to 3 of the visitors and I did take a medical leave, but when I attempted to return to work, my old job was not offered, my Chief citing the FMLA policy, offered me another position at lower pay. Since I feared I would be terminated anyway if I did return, I applied for and received short term disability through commercial insurance and also applied for social security, which is still pending. I now suffer from generalized anxiety, depression, hypertension and probably have a post traumatic stress disorder.

Anyway, I hope to resolve this situation eventually, I just wanted to make healthcare workers in this area aware of this organization and it's illegal mangement practices. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

UPDATE not a rebuttal:

The reason why Christiana Care has failed to file any kind of rebuttal is because they know what has been written so far is true. They're listening to their attorneys and Risk Mgt. Deniability is your first line of defense and I was told they play hardball and won't settle until just before a trial starts. Whatever, it was never about money, although I am suffering a financial hardship, besides the emotional toll.

All it is about is clearing the names of the falsley arrested. Oh Yeah, a previous record is not probable cause to make an arrest. You should check the records of all
the Constables involved before you go passing judgement on those who were
harrassed and falsely arrested.

Another thing I realized is that most attorneys and judges in Del. have no idea what Title 10 Chap 27 is. I didn't either until all of this stupid crap started.

To anyone interested, I will be at the next Board of Constables meeting to finish my business. I just want all the facts of this incident checked and explain to me
why these constables involved didn't violate their oaths of office.

I really don't want to go into any further details about why and how
Christiana Care management retaliated against my relatives and me.

However, they are so protective of their image that they don't have the courage to admit when poor judgement was used and mistakes were made and crimes committed. Hence, THE COVER UP!

I might be repeating myself, but if they just practiced what they preached, I wouldn't be writing this.

If I do have to go into the nasty and shocking details. So be it.

All they have to do is give me a call. My number hasn't changed.

It's not about money, it's about getting to the truth.
