I reside in California and on August 16th, 2008 a new Dell Catalog (guide code 090808) showed up in my U.S. mail for the month of August 2008. The catalog is marked "postmaster please deliver between Aug 13-Aug 15". In the catalog is SKU# 320-6272 which is a Dell 24" monitor model 2408WFP for $ 299.00. Today, August 18th (less than 1 business day after receiving the catalog) I call Dell to place my order and am told that they will not honor the pricing printed in this new catalog.
I spoke with Gabby (sales), customer service, sales again and finally Jacquelin & Ryan in business sales. Ryan at least was helpfull and asked me to fax over the catalog front/back and the product page so he could check with marketing. He checked with marketing and they told him they've received many calls about the issue but its a mistake and the best price they can offer is $ 515 dollars on the product. I told him this is un-acceptable and that they are falsely advertising this item. They have refused to honor their advertised pricing, this is ridiculous and certainly doesn't live up to their "Do The Right Thing" statement in their catalog. What a bunch of thieves to knowingly "Do The Wrong Thing". This should be their new marketing motto.

Average retail price

Unfortunately publishing mistakes happen. According to my research a Dell 2408WFP LCD Monitor has an average retail price of $600 (Froogle.com). As the smart consumer you are, you should have relalized it was a mistake. A $600 monitor for $299 through a consumer catalog? In these hard times?
Manufactures have a responsibility to their customers. At the same time consumers have a obligation to shop smart. The law is on the side of Dell, it was an honest mistake. You need to prove malice.
Why would a multi-million dollar company risk everything on a false ad with malice? They wouldn't.
