Jimmy Lee from exotic travel solutions contacted us and asked if we would be interested in selling our timeshare at the Grand Mayan. If so, he said he had a buyer. We asked what it was worth and he said $78,000. Pretending to be negotiating with a buyer, he said the offer was for $76,000. He said the closing was being handled by an escrow company in Henderson, Nevada by the name of United World Escrow. He sent a contract by email for the sellers to sign, his signature, but no buyers name.
We were then contacted by Sean Lytle from United World Escrow and told that they were holding funds deposited by Exotic Travel Solutions for the purchase of our timeshare in the amount of $77,000 When the breakdown of the closing costs was sent, there was still no buyer, but a request to wire funds to a bank in Puerta Vallarta in the amount of $992.00 for the title search. Also included was a guarantee to reimburse that amount to us and we were told that they would collect that amount from the buyer. The contract was incorrect in that it was for Grand Mayan in Acapulco, not Riviera Maya. This same mistake was made in the original contract sent also. We asked both times that it be corrected, but it wasn't. There were other errors which they did not correct as well.
It was stated that as soon as we produced a receipt of the wire transfer for $992 that they would release the funds to us. They avoided answering why these things were not taken out of escrow and there was still no buyers name.
We became extremely suspicious because that is not how closings are done. I checked with ripoffreports.com and found an almost identical incident with a different meeting event planner company in Augusta, GA in which the reporter had sent the money for title search and then some other things had to be paid and eventually had sent them over $9,000.00.
Thank god somebody was kind enough to report it. So

Timeshare Resale Scams
AUTHOR: janie78j - ()

Sadly but truth, there is virtually no resale market for timeshare anymore. The market has collapsed and the stark truth is most timeshare is worthless. Ebay is full of timeshare weeks unsold for only $1. The sellers would of course be quite happy to sell for eve less just to rid themselves of timeshare, so, what would anyone believe on someone that calls and claims there's a "prospect buyer" for your timeshare? It's just too good to be true... I recommend you to read these articles from Mexican Timeshare Solutions on how to get out of a timeshare scam: http://www.timesharescam.com/
