I worked for Je Nelson from September 16th through October 1st a total of 86 hours. I was told I would be paid 30 days from the activation date which would have been October 16th 2014. Since then I have been given several promise to pay dates in November, December, and January and latest in February, I haven’t seen a dime.
He owes me 1,280 Dollars for the work done. He flat out told me he doesn’t have the money to pay me. He said he lost money on my campaign, that’s not my problem; I did the work and put in the hours. If it was managed poorly on the account management side then that’s a hit you take in business. It’s been 5 months and I spent my time and money driving 45 minutes each way to promote his program for 2 weeks. I wasn’t looking on making an investment into the company.
He doesn’t return phone calls and emails. Occasionally, I can "catch" him and he gives me the same old song and dance. Being a 1099 contractor I am not protected under the same laws but plan on taking him to small claims court. I am so angry because I have to move, been late on bills believing his lies and promising me money when he knows he doesn’t have it.
I was receiving emails regularly stating they have over 3,000 jobs available. I have been reading and seeing "late payment notices" for many campaigns and not just mine. This is a big red flag and I know there are a lot of Brand Ambassadors are not getting paid, not just me.
I reported him to the BBB, the FCC and the Inspector General. He needs to be shut down; he keeps claiming he is not getting paid but at this point with so many campaigns running I think he might just be embezzling all of the money. I just want to be paid for the hours I worked and what was promised to me.

Did you ever get paid? If not, you should contact the State Labour Board, The Consumer Protection Division of your State's Attorney's General's Office, the BBB, your local news station, they generally have a Consumer Troubleshooter and finally: TAKE IT TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT! But do not just settle for not being paid. Unless Chapter 11 Bankruptcty has been filed by this company, they HAVE to pay you! To do otherwise is not an option!

"I have worked with and used" so your both a Brand Ambassador and an Owner? It sounds like a staff comment to me in all honesty. Otherwise you are very knowledgeable about the Business Operations and Payee process of Je Nelson Marketing.
I understand how 1099's work and have been doing BA for almost 10 years now, I have never had this issue. I also specifically asked when I would be paid prior to starting the job and was told and I quote "payment will be made 30 days from the activation date." I wouldn’t expect a year later to still not be paid for this event. Never the less you replied to a complaint I made in February 2015 and it’s now 4 business days away from October and there have still be no changes for me.
I being the contractor, had an agreement with the Marketing Company I worked for, I had nothing to do with the payment arrangement and contract they had with the Client. Therefore I wouldn’t know if the Client prepaid or what other financial obligations they had because my agreement was not with them.
What I will say is that it has now been 1 Year and I still have not been paid. I don’t know what job anyone agrees to do to be paid over a year later 1099 or not. That is not how a business world works. I didn’t sign up to invest two weeks of my life, my time and travel expenses to be paid over a year later, if they ever pay me. At this point I have decided just to take them to Small Claims Court and the issue will be solved appropriately.
The comment "go be a server" is very inappropriate and unprofessional," again no job should take over a year to pay you.

I have worked with and used JE Nelson numerous occassions. They, like agencies using them are dependent upon their clients paying on time. Just like the independent contractors in the field, they may not have the cash flow to pay staff out prior to being paid. It's part of the business, if you don't like it, then you should go be a server. This is how the 1099 business of promotional marketing works.
