In response to an advertisment we heard on the radio for the dealership my associate went down to look at getting a car for our business. He was looking to pay cash for the car and was told that in order to test drive a car he first had to have his credit run. The ad on the radio simply stated that if we could find a better deal on the same car that we got the car for free!
After hours of arguing with the salesman he was finnaly allowed to get the price on a car he still could not drive, to see if he even liked it. This all happened on 9/7/2005. That price came out to be $34,244.77 which is not even a deal on the car.
The next morning my partner and I went to D Dahle Mazda and was imeadiatly allowed to test drive the car, several cars for that matter, and then when we were given the price for the RX-8 it turned out to be 32,000 not 34,244.77 a difference of over $2000.
I then came home and called Legacy Ford/Mazda and asked for the general manager at which point I was put on hold, and then the receptionist came back on the phone and told me he was on another call and I could leave a message on his voice mail. I did so and they never returned my call. If this is the kind of customer service people get from them when they are afraid of holding up to their own advertisments then they shouldn't advertise in that manner.

What's your name this month?

In the less-than-a-year that your dealership has been open, it has changed names twice. I can only recall the last two names (Allen Patch Mazda, now Legacy Mazda). I'm sure it won't matter how many customers you mistreat as long as you can keep changing your name and blame it on the "previous management." The Legacy group certainly has a reputation that preceeds them.

Amazing

Went to a car dealer this weekend. They actually had added $1995.95 for PAINT AND SEALANT PROTECTION to a Mazda Miata. As soon as they told you that crap about the credit check, you should have walked out the door. My wife had to have one of those RX-8's last year. Paid $30k, $2k under list. Now you can pick 'em up for $24-$26K. The base models are going for $21K here.

Why didn't you leave??

If you are paying cash for a car, there is absolutely NO reason to run a credit check. The only dealers that do that before allowing you to test drive a car is the ones that deal with the 'credit challenged'. You should've left the minute they said that.
My wife and I recently bought 2 new cars, and we went to every dealer and test drove anything we wanted, Toyota, Lexus, Cadillac, anything, without one mention of a 'credit check'. Also, if they mark their cars up on the sticker, it's time to leave. That tells you right there they are a dishonest dealer.
