Madison Marketing Royals Marketing Scam Vancouver, British Columbia

Fake check from Madison Marketing Inc, supposedly from Vancouver, with a fake address and untraceable phone number. Check supposedly drawn on The Northern Trust Company, Chicago, IL, but with fake routing number and account number. Check itself looks authentic, without any type of deals or contracts on it if you attempt to cash it - but as account does not exist, you won't see the money. Bank account holder supposedly Royals Marketing Inc, Anaheim, CA 92801.

Accompanying letter says that they have $9,700 waiting for you if you call their number - they say in the letter that you have to pay taxes up front. Not sure how that would work.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I called Northern Trust Bank fraud department and faxed over what I had - hopefully they'll do something, as the scammer is maligning their bank name.
