 I got a $100 gift card for Restaurant.com. I set up an account and went about typing in the code to get my hundred dollars which promptly went into the account. Good. I can use my money to buy discount certificates for whatever restaurant I choose. .

Except I cant. I logged back in and the money is gone!! How can this be when the website stated

"Remember! If you do not redeem the full value of the eGift card, it will remain in your account and display the availabe balance."

When I inqured as to where the money went, the message I got was, actually, it doesnt get kept. You are supposed to keep the gift card and continue to put the number in continually, except there is no message telling me I need to do that.  Once you redeem a gift card, I ask, who keeps it hanging around since it is useless? Certainly not me, and since I saw the $100 in my account and was reassured that it was there, I threw it out since it was redeemed but not spent.

Rather than sort out my problem, the message I get from support is that this only works for cards bought from the website themselves. Well, who else is allowed to manufacture gift cards for the website then? I would have to imagine that ALL gift cards come from the website themselves!

The solution is to go to wherever I got the gift card and they will give me the code. Clearly, I am being given the runaround here.

The upshot is, they have the money and have not furnished the equivalent value in gift certificates that could be bought frome their website.

I feel like I have been robbed.
