On July 2, 2007, I went to a Building Wealth seminar sponsored by Russ Whitney. I had seen his informercials and was a bit leary about this business but I decided to see what it was about without doing my research on the front end. At the seminar, there was a gentleman who came up and talked about his family and why this business is for you.

Then he proceeded to talk about how much the 3-day seminar would cost. The initial price was $2,999.00! But he said that those who acted right now would get a discounted fee and it would be only $795. I took the bait! I put $595 on my debit card and the other $200 on a credit card. They gave me the package of video and cd material, but before I left, I talked to a few others who had signed up for the 3-day seminar. All of them were as eager as I was to get started but I told them that I would do some research since we did have 3 days to cancel our registration to the seminar.

As soon as I searched for any problems with Russ Whitney, the Ripoff Report website stood out the most. After reading the horrible stories, I decided not to attend the seminar and to get my money back. I sent my cancellation notice via registered mail ($16) to make sure that a signature was given when it was received.

I then followed up with a phone call and the woman told me she received the cancellation. She informed me that they would be handling my request next and that it would take ten business days to refund my money. I was given a UPS label via email to package and send their merchandise back. I received my refund on July 18th, 2007.

For those individuals trying to get a refund, just follow the instructions on obtaining your refund but do a follow-up phone call and talk to a person. You may have to be on hold for a while but better to hold on than to be ripped off.
