To keep this simple, I purchased a Dodge Ram SRT 10 truck from Texas Direct Auto on 12-11-08. I paid with a cashiers check and was told that I would get my title in about 2 weeks. It is now 1-28-09 and I have no idea where my title is.
Unlike most of the other reports that I have read about this company, I have been able to contact Amanda, who is in the title dept. there... BUT she basically keeps giving me a bunch of Bull about the title. To be honest, I do not think that they know where it is. I called them yesterday (01-27-09) and was told that I should have in in 1 week..we'll see.
I wish that I would have known about this website before I purchased this vehicle from this company. I THOUGHT that because they had so many positives and only 1 negative on ebay that they were legit.
At this point I really don't know what to do if they don't produce my title but I will definately update my report of any new changes and I hope that after reading all the reports about this bogus auto dealer people will think twice about doing business with them.

Who is Mike Dodds

I think Mike Dodds was the owner of Motor Trends (motortrendsonline.com) whose company was merged with Texas Direct Auto (TDL). Now, if Mike Dodds is also one in the same owner of TDL or not, I am not sure. Interesting that he makes himself a GM in his case for Rebuttal.

Sorry for the confusion, Jessica, but this seems to be a simple misunderstanding. My name is Mike and I am the General Manager for Texas Direct Auto. I want you to know that I take each and every customers concerns very seriously. You, after all, are the reason we come to work each and every day. In your complaint, you stated that you bought a truck from us on 12-11-2008 ... it seems as if the actual date of purchase was 12-22-2008. The title does take a few weeks and I am happy to see that you received your title as promised and all is well. I am not sure how you were lead to believe your title would be in within two weeks, but I am happy to look into this for you. The state of Texas can take 4 to 8 weeks to process a vehicle title and we are simply at their mercy (you know how it is dealing with the state!)
We actually have a disclaimer on our site regarding this exact issue that reads as follows ...
"We do not always have titles on hand for vehicles that are placed for sale, titles may be in transit from banks, from other dealerships, from the state, and a host of other reasons for normal processing delays in title paperwork. We are a licensed and bonded dealer in Texas and guarantee clear titles on all vehicles that we sell. Texas Direct Auto sell in excess of $200 Million a year--that means the movement of vehicles and title are a constant at our dealership. If having title on hand is of critical importance to you, please call to verify its disposition prior to contracting for sale."
I apologise for the confusion and want you to know that I am personally available anytime should you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your business.
