DO NOT GO HERE! THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST DISASTER!
Unfortunately, I went to the Wedding Plaza in Floral Park for my Bridal Gown.
When I first when to the Wedding Plaza I felt a little awkward about the place because the girls at the front desk where RUDE. I ended up falling in love with a dress and decided to order it. When the dress came in Carmella, the seamstress came to see the dress on my and told me that it fit like a glove. She then told me that because I was ordering all NINE of my bridesmaid dresses, Mother of Groom Dress and the Flower Girl dress there that they would accommodate me and charge me a $120.00 CAP for my alterations. Well that DID NOT HAPPEN. The ONLY alterations I needed was to tighten the dress up a TINY bit and a HEM. THATS IT. Oh by the way, when I got the Hem done, the seamstress had my stand on the block and took out a scissor and started cutting the bottom of my dress. When I asked her what she was doing? No pins? Nothing, she said she was experienced and has been doing this a lot time. DID SHE REALLY JUST PUT A SCISSOR TO MY DRESS? When it came time to pay the alterations they charged me $350.00. FOR WHAT? I spoke with Carmella (who of course denied having any type of conversation with me), I spoke with the Manager Ron, who claims that "brides are under a lot of stress and we get things mixed up" AKA: Bridezilla. They were not the SLIGHTEST bit accommodating. When I finally paid for the alterations (which has to be in CASH - SHADY ) I took the dress home and tried it on for my mother. THE HOOK IN THE BACK OF THE DRESS POPPED OFF. Not only that, my dress has flowers in the back of the dress and one of the flowers was FALLING OFF. I had to bring my dress to another seamstress to completely fix my dress. I have a lot of vendors, a lot of people that I had to deal with for my wedding and I did NOT have even ONE problem with anyone, not the DJ, not the Videographer, not the Photographs, not the Venue, not the invitations/favors, not the Church. NOTHING. THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR BRIDES they simply ONLY care about money. IF YOU GO HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

When your gown arrived, months earlier, it did in fact fit beautifully but that did not mean you did not need any alterations. As we discussed even though you only need slight adjustments on the bust and hips and a "tiny" hem, we are still doing the same  work on the gown. The labor time that goes into the doing a "tiny" hem is exactly the same as a huge hem on a shorter bride.  Our alteration cap includes the bustle too, which make our prices quite competitive and cheaper than most.   Bridal stores can and do charge up to $300 for your gown alterations and an ADDITIONAL $300 for your cathedral train bustle.

I'm in business for 22 years and take complaints very seriously.  As a rule the alteration costs are never discounted on multiple gown orders.  We in fact discounted the bridesmaids, mothers and flowergirl gown costs. This worked in your favor because  8 of your 9 girls took their gowns out without alterations and used their own tailors.  Your alteration charges were $295 and that included your cathedral bustle.  Never were you charged $350.  I tried to understand where this $120 came from and thought that you confused moms alteration charges of $120 ($110 plus tax) and never insinuated "bridezilla" because prior to this you were always pleasant, cordial and a wonderful bride to work with. We agreed on $250 as a courtesy for the confusion and because you were so nice.  I honestly never thought that I would get a review like this.

You were told the possible costs upon your fittings but never was this $120 quote mentioned.  We had to wait until the final fiting to even see if you were getting a hem because you weren't sure about your heel height. The charges would have been less if we didn't do the hem.  Cash on final payment is also an industry rule and shouldn't be seen as "shady".

Many brides are sensitive to seeing a scissor on their bridal gown but we get the most accurate
hem when it is hand cut  by an experienced tailor/fitter.  Happily there was not any complaints about your hem.  I am sorry to hear that you had a hook problem, I would have made the repairs if you called me.  Of course I would have reimbursed you for any other costs this incurred if I couldn't make the repairs.  The flowers that cover the bustle hooks do sometime appear loose because they are only sewn partially so the hook is still exposed. You did have a final fitting and inspected the gown and bustle, this is usually when the small details can be seen.

Internet reviews can be very damaging to owners, their familes and employees.  You can get more satisfaction (sometimes monetarily or just a sincere apology) when you deal directly with the business owner.  Internet attacks can be spiteful and one sided at times also.  Please feel free to contact me directly at any time.
