Sorkin’s RX/CareMed Pharmaceutical Services is a specialty pharmacy that supplies medications for serious and chronic diseases. “[The] business model is to strive to improve the health and quality of life conditions for the customers/patients while at the same time providing efficient and excellent customer service,” states Vanessa Mariacher, a representative of Sorkin’s RX/CareMed Pharmaceutical Services. Leads are acquired primarily through word of mouth referrals from satisfied customers, as well as by doctor referrals. “When a new customer contacts the business to fill out a prescription, they are first consulted by a clinical care coordinator who will talk with the patient as well as the doctor. Patients are provided with detailed explanations regarding the prescribed medication, co-payments, insurance and any other issue that may arise,” explains Ms. Mariacher.
At times, a customer may not feel satisfied with the product or services they have received. Although it is a very rare complaint, recently a customer contacted Sorkin’s RX/CareMed to complain that her prescription did not arrived on the expected delivery date. “A manager at Sorkin’s reviewed the incident and determined that the FedEx truck that was delivering the medications had broken down and needed to be taken out of service,” explains Ms. Mariacher. Upon learning of the delay, the company immediately re-shipped the prescription, utilizing expedited delivery service. Upon resolving the issue, “the customer understood about the situation regarding the mechanical issue of the delivery service. She expressed her gratitude at the speed in which the situation was resolved,” states Ms. Mariacher.
CareMed Pharmaceutical Services Conflict Resolution Procedures
As part of Sorkin’s conflict resolution procedure, upon receiving a complaint from a customer, a representative from the appropriate department will contact the customer directly. The supervisor from that same department will then be informed of the complaint, and all necessary steps will be taken to rectify the situation. Once a complaint is resolved, Sorkin’s employs a follow-up procedure to ensure their customers’ continued satisfaction. “Once complaints are resolved, a manager from Sorkin’s will follow up with a telephone call to ensure that all of the customer’s needs have been fulfilled. If the customer still has issues, the manager will personally work to resolve any and all problems,” states Ms. Mariacher.
To avoid encountering problems, employees of Sorkin’s RX/CareMed undergo constant training on new procedures as well as refresher courses on proper and courteous customer service. Additionally, all employees must review and sign off on the business Code of Ethics. To ensure there are no misunderstandings, all new customers also receive the “Patients’ Bill of Rights.” With these practices, Sorkin’s strives to avoid problems or complaints before they occur, so they can focus on continuing to meet their customers’ needs.
Sorkin’s also focuses on providing a stable, fair, and enjoyable workplace for its employees. “Full time employees receive 5 sick days per year as well as 2 additional personal days. They get 1 to 3 week’s vacation, depending upon the length of time with the company. They receive an 30 minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks daily,” explains Ms. Mariacher.
Since receiving complaints through Ripoff Report, Ms. Mariacher states that Sorkin’s would like to reach out to the individual who made the complaint and attempt to resolve the issue directly, to both parties’ satisfaction. Since receiving a complaint through Ripoff Report, Sorkin’s has taken several steps to improve the experience of both the customer and the employees. “Sorkin’s has added additional employee training. They have also instituted an open-door policy for the employees to be able to speak with their supervisors. There is [also] and Employee Assistance Unit available to the workers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” explains Ms. Mariacher.

Be careful working for this pharmacy. Patients may enjoy the services they get but don't be fooled- the pharmacy only cares about turning a profit. The other review was right- their techs lie to get approvals, sometimes posing as doctor's offices.
The copay assistance program forges doctor's signatures and cut corners to get copay assistance from patient assistance foundations. Employees get screwed on their vacation and days off (like saying they're open during blizzards so they make workers use up their personals). They act like they are a big corporation but they are just a wannabe- it's a pharmacy for crying out loud. Employees get written up for every little thing like having someone talk to your manager about being sick and not physically telling him yourself.
They are very demanding and even the managers are really stressed and have had breakdowns. Their pay is very low and the average workday is 9 and a half hours with a half hour lunch, which most people don't use or eat at their desk WHILE WORKING. They say they are the highest paying pharmacy (compared to Duane Reade and CVS). The lower level workers get blamed for everything and don't trust anybody- the employees look out for themselves and will backstab you. It doesn't matter how good of a worker- make one little mistake and they will hang you dry.
No employee will tell you that it is a good place to work, if they are they're lying. Most of the management are the owner's close friends and family- which is why some of the management is incompetent and downright disrespectful. I witnessed several people getting fired abruptly for no just reason. They are severely understaffed and higher ups are extremely stingy to hire more people, and would rather overwork their staff. I am thinking of leaving soon when I find a better job in this economy. I think most of their workers stay there because we don't have a better choice.
