ClassWallet Strong Families, Strong Students Offer of grant to purchase or "reimburse" educational supplies

  The ClassWallet Grant program is not all that we need or desire as home educators. The "grant program appears to be a business deal meant to benefit some token vendors rather than the educators.  Touted as a program that is geared towards low income families makes the ClassWallet a lesson in futility and frustration. 

  As a qualifying, low-income, home educator, I looked forward to greatly implementing our educational experience. Thriftiness comes naturally in our situation and the 3000$ grant could go very far, if I were able to spend as I see fit. Instead, I have learned that I am limited to a few select vendors that have been preselected. Perusing the vendor sites I was more than a little dismayed to see how limited my choices are. More importantly, the preselected businesses are very expensive and appear to be capitalizing on this low income farce.  

  Yes, my children will get new laptops, they are happy. A free upgrade is good, but the markups are akin to price gouging.

I believe that there is something unethical going on in this program. 

  The informational print on the ClassWallet site claims that this great program helps ease financial burdens, however, my dollars go much farther when I am allowed to squeeze and stretch them.  Many of us educators are smart enough to find the deals and save the dollars. This is not the case with ClassWallet, these will be the most expensive school supplies I have ever had the opportunity to buy. 

Any ideas of grant funded field trips are kaput.

The opportunity for a grant was a relief, the reality has me reeling in disgust.

 Who, exactly, is profitting from this frustrating, farce of a grant program?
