I rented a car online through EasyRentCars.com, which in my case usedThrifty car rental to supply the car.

My credit card was charged well before my arrival in Puerto Rico. EasyRentCars reciept CLEARY SAYS:

"Your Rental Includes: Vehicle Rental, Taxes and Surcharges."

NOT TRUE!!!!

When I arrived at Thrifty car rental at the airport, Thrifty adds on fees and taxes that almost equal the amount originally charged online. It almost DOUBLED THE COST OF THE RENTAL.  I'm not talking about insurance, gasoline, toll road fees, etc. They added airport fees, taxes, customer facility, vehicle license, vehicle excise, energy recovery, etc. All of them were made up "Surchargers".

It didn't help to call the office and complain, Im sure they are used to it and don't care. As an example, they couldn't explain what the "Customer Facility" charge of $5.30 a day was. Very dishonest. Apparently they don't belive in return costomers. Next time I'll use UBER.

EasyRentCars tried their best to get me some sort of refund. Thrifty Car Rental at the airport in Puerto Rico is the problem.

AUTHOR: Roy - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, May 23, 2019

I wanted to update this report to say that EasyRentCars is not the problem, they tried their best to get me any kind of refund for the over charges that Thrify added to my bill, but Thrifty Puerto Rico doesn't care about the customer.

Thrifty car rental at the airport in Puerto Rico is dishonest and they do not care about their reputation. They are not interested in repeat coustomers.

Just to re-interate, when you arrive they add several charges and taxes and say "Sign here". You need to decline all of their BS that they add like roadside assistance and the toll road fee, taxes, fees, etc. They make up all sorts of overcharges, and good luck trying to argue with the guy, he argues for a living. Probably works on a comission. It ended up costing me double what the initial amount said I was going to pay online when I booked. That's a very expensive rental car!!!

Take an Uber and get your rental car elsewhere if you just have to have a car, but don't use Thrifty at the airport, unless you like spending vacation time arguing with strangers.
