Gaughan companies Haven't fixed a water problem in more than 8 months. Other repair issues. Forest Lake MN

I'm a current resident at one of Gaughan's properties. And. I really hope that me complaining about this online doesn't make them try to find me and evict me. But. Taking a risk here, very scared.

I'm not going to be specific about the problems I have (cause I'm scared of Gaughan, ok??) But lets just say we've had a leak. They've so far replaced the sheet-rock 3 times. And 2 additional times they just slapped mud on it and called it a day.

I got confirmation from the front desk ladies that they know what's causing the leak. They've known this for 8 months AT LEAST. And they haven't fixed it.

I did some poking around to figure out how the maintenance system is structured. I don't know much but my understanding is that Gaughan only has 5 maintenance guys for their biggest property. The property holds 7 buildings, each 3 stories. I only counted the units on one of the smaller buildings and got 27 units. So like. That x 7 is. 189. And like. Gaughan has money. How can they justify only having 5 guys for that many families?

They do also have 'caretakers'. But these are people who are - like - your neighbors? Who work for Gaughan for 'rent credit'? (which sounds super scammy to me, but the point is) They're not professionals. I saw a help wanted sign posted in the buildings asking for caretakers and like. There weren't any prerequisites. But they're allowed to make small fixes in your apartment. Problem is, these issues always keep reoccurring. Every problem I've asked to be fixed always breaks again in the next few months, not just the ceiling leak.

Usually I'm not bothered by broken house stuff. But what worries me is the potential for mold. I know water makes mold. And ever since I've moved into these apartments, my chronic health issues have gotten drastically worse, as well as new problems popping up that I never had before. Like nausea, migraines, vomiting, etc. I don't know if that means there's mold or mildew in the apartment effecting me, but. You know. It concerns me!! And makes me super anxious and I just want a ceiling that doesn't leak and the assurance I'm not breathing in icky things.

Anyway. I've tried just about every avenue to get things done around here. And I know its not the workers fault. It's not their fault they only have 5 guys. I don't think. And the front desk ladies are swamped with work orders and trying to get the maitenence guys to do stuff. Every time I put in a request I give them a month to get it moving but I always have to go bother them at least a couple times before anything happens.

It just. Shouldn't be like that? You shouldn't only have 2 front desk ladies and 5 maitenence guys taking care of THAT many people. It's not fair to the workers and definitely not fair to the residents. Especially since these apartments (at least mine) are built as cheaply as possible and break all the time. (Seriously. the flimsiest cupboards I ever seen. My college dorm room was built better).

Yeah. I'm just concerned about my health and running out of options. Hence me making a report here. I really hope this doesn't get me in trouble. Big companies with big money are scary and ruthless and I just want a roof over my head, man. A mold-free, non-leaking roof.
