A-1 Mortgage Corporation ripoff dishonest, false advertising, incompetent Cranberry Twp. Pennsylvania

In June 2005, my husband and I applied for a mortgage through a local mortgage broker to buy our first home. The mortgage broker we used was A-1 Mortgage Corp. in Cranberry Twp, PA and they were the worst choice we ever could have made.

Buying your first home is stressful enough without the mortgage broker lying to you on a daily basis, but that is exactly what we had to deal with. Their advertisements say that they will get you approved, no matter what your credit history looks like and that you can close in as little as 2 weeks.

We applied in June 2005, with our closing to be on August 1st. The lady we were dealing with, Debbie, assured us we would know something within a week of filing our application. We continued to contact her for updates throughout June and July, but the only answer we ever received was, "don't worry, were are fine."

Unfortnately, that was not true. August 1st, our scheduled closing day came, and two hours before we were supposed to be at A-1 to close on our house, we received a call from Debbie that we could not close that day. She had messed up and had to go through a different company to get us our mortgage. We went to the office manager to complain, but were basically told it must be our fault, that we must have done something to change our credit scores. We had not done anything with our credit in over 6 months.

We re-scheduled the closing for August 3rd. When that day came, Debbie assured us we were ready to go, and to bring a check for the closing costs....which were $1500 more than she originally quoted me!!! I had to borrow money from my mother to get the extra money.

When we finally sat down to close the deal, the seller was told he would not be receiving his check that day since they had messed up on August 1st and didn't receive the money from the new mortgage company yet. Luckily for us, the seller was very nice and still gave us the keys to the house considering we had already packed our bed in a U-haul!!! Needless to say, the seller was also very upset by this whole situation.

It is now nearly 4 months later, and my garage door just broke. I called to report it to my Home Warranty company to make arrangements for the repairs and they have no record of me!!! I called my realtor to ask who should have taken care of this... and guess what...the mortgage broker was supposed to send the Home Warranty company the paperwork and check but never did it!!!

A-1 Mortgage in Cranberry should be put out of business for their lies and bad business practices!!! I am telling everyone I know about my bad experience. Please don't let anyone you know go to them either.
