I ordered an aftermarket large capacity battery for my Sony SZ series notebook to give me more unplugged time while on travel. Sony batteries are too expensive so I found AccessoryGenie.com selling ProPower (aka AccessoryPower) VGP-BPL2, VGP-BPS2 batteries for about 1/3 the cost of the Sonys.
The first battery they sent worked fine... for about 2 months. I called Accessory Genie and they said since it was past 30 days I had to deal with the mfg. OK.... so I got an RMA# and they shipped me a replacement. There were some issues with their logistics and shipping but I finally got the replacement about 6 weeks later.
The replacment battery also worked fine... for about 2 months. Then it wouldn't run the computer for even a second, no matter how long it was charged. Just like the first one.
Meanwhile the OEM small battery and charger continue to function perfectly. So the problem is definitely in the AccessoryPower battery, not the computer or charger.
Both AccessoryGenie and AccessoryPower are totally non-responsive and unwilling to issue me a refund. I have not yet heard from AccessoryPower about another RMA but I'm not sure it's even worth my time since they bob you for $15 "shipping and handling " each time.
And no, I'm not a kid or a compute newbie. I am a 55 y.o. computer expert who has had a half dozen notebooks over the years... and never had a problem with a battery before.
And yes, I did disable the Sony battery management utility service as per directions to ensure that the after market battery would not be rejected as incompatible.
Stay away from these guys and save youyself some $$ and agravation.
