I hope whoever reads this is as lucky as I was. What I mean is this. I received the following email:

After reviewing your resume we feel as though you fit the criteria we are looking for in a local Account Executive position. We are a Sports Marketing
company that works with all the local Schools and Teams in your area. We do all of their published materials including Sports posters, game tickets, programs,
banners, websites, coupon books, and schedule cards; what ever these teams license or contract us out to do for them. Your job as an account executive
would include maintaining relationships with local schools and teams, as well as their sponsors.

Sponsors would be businesses such as Bank of America,
Pepsi-Cola, AT&T Wireless as well as smaller "Mom and Pop" type businesses that support local teams. The territory is about a 60 miles radius around the city
and it is established so one would take over existing accounts --but, of course we are always looking to grow, so business development is fundamental to the
position.

We do have a base salary plus commission structure, with medical benefits and a retirement plan. If this interests you please call us (do not email we have already reviewed your resume) to get more detailed information and possibly set up an interview.

Well I must admit this eamil caught my eye. I immediatley contact the person to set up an interview. So the day of the interview off I go. I, like the person in the other post, thought it was an impressive office and sat patiently for 30 mins while waiting for my interview. In the mean time another person walked in for their interview. We both sat waiting for another 20 mins and finally the conference room door opened. We were both asked to come in at the same time. Now I must admit I found this a little strange. I had never interviewed with another potential candidate before.

Once in the room I realized that this was not going to be an interview it was more of an informative presentation about the company and it was clear the person who was doing it was in a rush so really there was no time for questions. After the presentation we were scooted out of the room with a purple package and 2 posters. We were also told that we would need to call the sales manager the next day for a phone interview and were given his card and the time to call. I must say I also found this strange that we had to call him but hoped for the best. We were also told it would be in our best interest to have knowledge about the company. So I get home and that evening reviewed all the material that I was given.

The next day I spoke with the Sales Manager. I was told that I would be quizzed on the previous days meeting and that my grade would come from how quick I responded and how I answered each question. So this was a quiz not an interview. And that is what it was. I answered the questions with flying colors. Then I was told I would need to pull out my sheet that had the sales pitch on it and I was to fill in the blanks. OKAY. So I did and I was told to make sure I memorized the speach so that it just rolled off my tongue.

At this point I was given instructions for MY DAY that I would be selling for them so we could test the waters. After hanging up the phone and feeling more confused then ever I pulled up the name of the company online and THANK GOODNESS I found the previous listing by Rusty.
I guess this company knows what it is doing. Pretend to interview many unware people.....pull them in and then get them to go out and spend a day selling their products in hopes they are the ONE person to get the job. Makes you wonder if they ever hire anyone??? I mean why pay someone when you can pretend to interview people and send them out for a day, let them sell your products and tell them they are not the one for the job. The job that claims to offer a 30k base if you sell 9 sales. What they dont point out is that not only do you have to sell 9 sales but it must equal 4500.00. So if you sell 9 sales at 299.00 a piece you are looking at 2700.00 which puts you in the straight commission category.

Also, what happened to the continued relationships you would be having. One of the first lines on one of the sheets they gave us stated that we would not be contacting the schools or the athletic directors. I find it hard to maintain a relationship with someone if you can not contact them dont you???
Anyway, I really hope that the people that are sucked into interviewing with this company does their research and will find these postings so they do not waste their time. I am just so thankful I did.
